The Kamakhya Temple at Nilachal hills in Guwahati, Assam is one of the oldest and most revered centres of Tantric practices. The temple is the center of the Kulachara Tantra Marga and the site of the Ambubachi Mela, an annual festival that celebrates the menstruation of the goddess. Structurally, the temple is dated to the 8th-9th century with many subsequent rebuildings-and the final hybrid architecture defines a local style called Nilachal. It is also one of the oldest of the 51 pithas in the Shakta tradition

Hey Frenchy, You asked what's fancy about Fancy bazaar. Fancy bazaar actually has a bit of a dark history and source of name. The actual name of Fancy bazaar is 'Phansi Bazaar'. 'Phansi' means both the hanging noose and the act to hang to death. That came from the Jail nearby where prisoners used to be publicly hanged in the bazaar during the Raj. Officially that market is still known as 'phansi' bazaar, but most people now call it Fancy bazar. I hope you will travel through rest of the state and see all that it has to offer. Our state is really beautiful and culturally vibrant. You will miss a lot if you left after just after visiting Guwahati.

Great Sir, Nice vlog... just felt you are so curious about the Goats and coconut... Goats, pegions and the coconuts are offerings for the Goddess... in Hindu tradition people wish something and they offer Goats and pegions, whereas coconuts is Prasadam which is offered to goddess and half of it is taken back as prasadam... earlier they use to do Bali (sacrifice) of those animals but now a days it is illegal thus they are just offered to temple... welcome to Assam 😊

Kamakhya temple is older than history dude... thousands of years old. It's my wish to visit this temple one day. It's one temple where menstruation of women is celebrated.. whereas in most temples women don't even enter temples during menstruation. That "fire ceremony* is called"HAWAN".. basically means "to make offerings to God in consecrated fire". Those goats might be for sacrifice too 😅
@nicholasflammel2017
Жыл бұрын
Not just "might" . They are for slaughter. This temple has seen more blood than many battles or skirmishes. And even in the not so distant past , there used to be Human sacrifices on special occasions. Rumors and news of it can be found even as recent as 2019. And such mass animal sacrifices become common during the festivals like the Ambubachi Mela(The menstruation thing). So just because it does something vaguely related to "women empowerment", it does not mean that all it's other disgusting and cruel practices are forgiven. And it has far more terrifying things related to tantrism than just animal sacrifice.

@@tulika_9519 See the telegraph today. It's on the front page. 5 people have been arrested in the case by the police. So clearly it was not a fake rumor and the fakest person who thinks they are better than every academic article on this blasphemous temple is no one but you. This temple is a scar and a black mark on Hinduism and is the center for all occult and superstitious non scientific practices which does nothing but slow the country's growth. I am glad that I am a Vaishnav and I will never consider such temples which are monuments of himsa to be holy. Here are the facts . Santi Shaw , mother of Suresh Shaw was ritually beh*eaded by a group of 4 people including Sadhus Mata Prasad Pandey and the entire event was organized by a government official from Uttar Pradesh Pradeep Pathak on the anniversary of his Brother's death who was a Naga Sadhu. The woman had come from Bengal to attend the Ambubachi festival . They had purchased a dao(machete) from the very Fancy Bazar as shown in this video and after a puja at Bhootnath Cremation grounds, the five men beh*eaded the woman in the name of Maa Kamakhya and then dumped the head on the brahmaputra river. Search for telegraph Calcutta 23rd April to find the entire article.
