I’ve got a M4 iPad Pro 13-Inch with the most incredible tandem OLED color screen with 120HZ refresh rate so I have a device for color and fluidity so what I want from an ereader is for it to be more like paper so not having the color layer that darkens the screen and makes it that you need to turn on the front light 🤷♂️. The Boox page interests me more but it’s close to the same price in europe as the Go color 7 but with older android version and slower CPU and not available in white. I really would love to see a Boox Go B&W 7 with only a Carta 1300 screen and no color and same specs.

I have to say when I use mine I don't notice that I need to turn the light on more than any of my Kindles, while the colour layer might darken it I don't think it does so too much. I'm going to do a full review of the Book Go Colour 7 now I have had it for a few months and read a few books on it, so if you have any questions you'd like answered please do reply and I will try to fit them in!

The Boox gadget looks interesting! My ereader of late is the Kobo Libra Colour and I’ve been really enjoying it. Seeing book covers in color still startles me, but I love seeing them in color. I still use my Kindle too, especially for KU books. I agree about comics, I read those either physical (preferred) or on my iPad Pro 11”. They just need that pop of color for full effect.

It seems like a no-brainer - this is the ideal eReader. I don't mind the battery implications or the sometimes weird page turn animations.

Forgot to respond on books. I enjoyed “Will of the Many”. It’s a chunky book, though. I think it took me two weeks to read it. Wandering Inn, I haven’t read it, am reluctant because it’s a web series, so it’s never ending right? I want to have a story arc, etc. Currently reading Fever House by Keith Rosson which has been great. Not sure it’s your vibe, it’s more crime/horror, but it’s well written.

Wandering Inn is a web serial, currently without an ending, but there are story arcs and there are little endings for characters and plots.

First Imprssions of the Onyx Boox Go Colour 7 📚 Weekly Reading Recap! 📚 June 21st 2024 Loved the video. I remember when we first started our family, with three kids under 6 years old. I was working two/three jobs, and not reading at all...at the beginning. You're ahead of me, but the loss of reading time is real. Feel your pain. I've had a really good week of reading, though. Not to rub it in, or anything...just stating the facts. So, here is the week of reading from Saturday, June 15th to Friday, June 21st (but will add a little into Saturday, June 22nd). On Saturday, June 15th I finished: 1) Star Trek: Post-Nemesis: 04 Sword of Damocles by Geoffrey Thorne - I rated it 4.75 Stars. I think one of my highest rated Star Trek novels...to date (if memory serves). 2) Gods of War by James Lovegrove - The New Sherlock Holmes Adventures - I rated it 3.5 Stars. It was good, but just not that memorable, unfortunately. On Sunday, June 16th I finished: 3) The Privateer by Josephine Tey - I rated it 3.75 Stars. It was near plotless, and just accounts for what happened, and very UNLIKE all her other work (which were mysteries...which I absolutely love). On Tuesday, June 18th I finished: 4) Star Trek: Post-Nemesis: 01 Gods of Night by David Mack - first book in the Destiny trilogy - I rated it 4 Stars. It is adding to the current story arc, but now ADDING a new twist, which is very interesting. 5) The Hedge Knight by George R.R. Martin - of The Tales of Dunk and Egg - I rated this novella 4.25 Stars. I had heard that they are going to release the first season of The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the adaptation of the three novellas of Tales of Dunk and Egg. So, I wanted to read them first...so I picked them up. On Wednesday, June 19th I finished: 6) The Sworn Sword by George R.R. Martin - of The Tales of Dunk and Egg - I rated it 4 Stars. Not as good as the first tale, but building out the world...a little more. 7) The Mystery Knight by George R.R. Martin - of The Tales of Dunk and Egg - I rated it 4.25 Stars. A good ending to the trilogy of novellas. Love this world and time period. 8) Star Trek: Post-Nemesis era: 02 Mere Mortals by David Make - 2nd book in the Destiny trilogy - I rated it 4.25 Stars. It is getting weirder, and weirder, but better and better. Very interesting take on the story is presented to us, the reader. On Thursday, June 20th I finished: 9) Rise of the Evening Star by Brandon Mull - 2nd book in the Fablehaven series of Middle Grade books. I rated this one at 4 Stars. Had fun with this romp. It is a palette cleanser for me. On Friday, June 21st I finished: 10) Star Wars: Legends: Saboteur by James Luceno - Darth Maul duology - I rated this short story 3.5 Stars. It seemed TOO short, and I wanted more. 11) Star Trek: Post-Nemesis era - 03 Lost Souls by David Mack - 3rd book in the Destiny trilogy. Really weird, but also really good. I rated it 4.5 Stars. Not everyone is going to like where they went, but I did (obviously). On Saturday, June 22nd I finised: 12) Star Wars: Legends: Shadow Hunter by Michael Reaves - 2nd book in the Darth Maul duology - I rated it 4.25 Stars. An actual full length novel, that really served up the story...to butt up against The Phantom Menace novelization by Terry Brooks/the first Prequel movie. So good. I am currently reading: 1) Demon in White by Christopher Ruocchio - 3rd book in the Sun Eater main series. I am REALLY enjoying this series, but especially this book. I feel it is the best in the series, so far. Currently at 73%. 2) Star Trek: Post-Nemesis era: Voyager: 01 Full Circle by Kristen Beyer. I am pivoting from where I was, so that I can catch up this thread...to where I just left off (going back ONE year). This is a good series...I can tell, already. I am 31% into the story. 3) The Will of the Many by James Islington. It is a slow burn, and I knew NOTHING about the story...going in, and I see similarities from Mistborn: The Final Empire (Vin and Vis...from similar backgrounds...at first glance), but then, getting further in...I see Harry Potter and The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss...and loving the progression. I am currently 51% in. We didn't watch anything, other than Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever games (from the WNBA) on TV and a few KZitem content creators that we follow. As always, really glad for your channel. Thank you...and I'll talk to you, soon.

Huh. I watched another review where he said you can't. But even if you can, that's only the software side, sadly. The Kaleido 3 colour filter is still physically there on top of the Carta 1200 E Ink display. It has a barely noticeable raster which is not much of a problem but it also reduces the brightness significantly. I didn't think it could be as bad as the old Pearl E Ink display from my old SONY® Reader™ (PRS-T1) from 2011 but it is even worse, so you have to compensate by always using the frontlight which reduces battery time a lot.

Hi. And what about reading pdf ? Is it good ?
@SamHarrison2099

The one thing you have to keep in mind is that scrolling on e-ink screens is still not very fun, but it can display a PDF perfectly - the colour isn't even that bad tbh, just a bit dull.
@Lightkie
3 ай бұрын
I've seen in other reviews mentioned that this has a nice configuration option for PDFs to set a specific order of viewing parts of a page if it's too big, so that you don't need to scroll but generally, the screen is too small to really enjoy western comics. There is also (from Google I think?) a comic reader that magnifies each speech bubble in turn when pressing the page button to mitigate that. One of the big drawbacks of the Boox Go Color 7 specifically among the Kaleido 3 e-readers is that Onyx removed their own BSR (BOOX Super Refresh) from this model.
