While in Queretaro (and all throughout Mexico) Please do your homework and DO NOT OVERPAY FOR SERVICES OR GOODS, even if you have the power $$$ to do it. That produces price speculation and makes it more expensive for the locals

Hi Sarah and Neil, I’m writing from Nova Scotia, Canada. I have lived in San Miguel part time for the last 12 years and my favourite place to visit is Queretaro. If I spoke better Spanish I would live there…simply outstanding city. I just want to thank you for your positive and truthful comments on the Mexican people. I have found through my years in Mexico the people are polite, friendly and accepting. I live there on my own..never feeling any type of threat. And Sarah I smiled hearing your comments on crime. As I have told my adult children who were quite nervous of me being in Mexico “the only threat to me is walking due to the sidewalks”. I’ve now subscribed and thanks for the great videos.

Hey Deborah! We would have to agree that Queretaro feels like an extremely liveable City, we also found there were more english speakers than we found in Mexico City. Great your children are looking out for you, but absolutely with the Mexican people you are safe... we hope we find similar as we travel around the world. But the sidewalks?!?!! lol Best wishes Neil & Sarah

I'm so glad you two didn't expire! Because we all want and need to see this video. Lol. Now, I'm a bit confused. You said that practically no one in Queretaro speaks English, but then you stated near the end of your vlog that they literally say in Mexico, "There ain't no train coming today. No man. No way!" That sounds like pretty good English to me. Maybe not the Queen's English, but it will pass for us Yankees. Hahaha. I love the creativity of your content. Keep up the good work!

Cafe Americano is simply the name of a shot of expresso diluted in boiling water to become a full cup of coffee not a brewed cup of coffee found in the USA. Alan

@@2GoRoam Cafe Americano in Spanish translates to American Coffee in English but in the US the phrase is not used as there is no coffee grown in the US. People call coffee a cup of coffee which is brewed coffee. Expresso in the US is usually only bought in specialty coffee houses like Starbucks. It is not common in restuarants or fast food places or convenient stores like in Europe. There is no connection in the use of the phrase. Alan

A few tips about Spanish. There are no dip things, per se. You have to pronounce each vowel. And each vowel always sounds exactly the same. There are no short/long vowels like in English. So the "e" sound is always an "e" sound; it doesn't change. Thus, learn the 5 vowel sounds and you can pronounce every word correctly. No crazy surprises, in general. I've got other tips if/when you're ready.

Hi EatWalkLearn, great to hear from you. Excellent tip thank you! Then we went three times in a row, ‘18, ‘19 and ‘20. Do you actually just have phone calls with the family phone number to phone number or are you using the phones for Wi-Fi audio chats like FaceTime calling? We use that with my U.K. relatives to avoid costs. My mum is 70 and has become quite the FaceTime expert!

Yep Joey is right :-) The costs and where we are at the moment is considered one of the most expensive parts of Mexico but if you stay out of the tourist areas it is extremely affordable! Our Parents are all in their late 80's, my parents are distrustful of anything on social media (who can say that is a bad thing eh lol) and they don't even watch our videos. So they need to use a traditional home phone and although Sarah's mum tries with Social Media she doesn't enjoy it, much rather pick up the phone to talk. Its a generational thing I guess. Best wishes Neil & Sarah

@@2GoRoam that’s fair. My mum was encouraged to use things like FaceTime, just because it allowed her to see us as well as speak to us. Plus there have been places we’ve gone where the idea of finding a local sim and mobile package vs just using local the local WiFi has made the latter much easier. It has also allowed her to see the small human as well. I will decide whether to tell Joey that you think he’s right. He’s smug enough as it is lol.

Yes, don't want Joey getting overly smug, keep it to yourself this time..... ;-)

@@2GoRoam my pleasure as well! Like you said.. KZitem is a place were you get to see and learn from others that things could be done, and you guys sharing your experiences in a very positive way and great spirit really makes it a good time while there is already a lot of negativity around! Bendiciones🙌

History, drama, and a musical interlude! You really outdid yourselves on this one. : ) I'm having a great time living vicariously through you until we can get on the road ourselves. I thought what you were saying about the cost of groceries compared to the cost of eating out to be interesting. When we rent a condo for vacations we typically eat breakfast and lunch in (because we tend to keep these meals light anyway) then go out for dinner every night. I could see us doing that a lot while slow traveling too. I was also thinking (while you were waiting for the train) that I will need a massive amount of sunscreen! Happy travels.

Hey Mel! Yes this one was a bit of an epic lol. I spent over 2 hours editing just the train part :-) So pleased to hear that you are loving living through us while you get ready for your own travels. We did that so much on KZitem it feels great to pay that forward. We tend to only eat 2 meals a day and that helps with overall costs for sure. We are tending more and more to have breakfast at home (Greek Yoghurt, granola and fruit) and then eat out later. I think, like us, you will be pleasantly surprised at the costs in Mexico. Thanks as always for your very kind support! Best wishes Neil & Sarah
