You know what's going to happen once they've pushed us all into EVs don't you? These extras, things like climate control and so on, are going to be something you have to pay a monthly subscription for rather than a fixed feature of the car. I've already heard of an EV owner that had his keyless entry deleted because it shouldn't have been there in the first place because it hadn't been paid for. As if that's not bad enough, I can see problems further down the line when somebody else buys the car and wants to activate the feature but finds it's all clogged up because it hasn't been used for 3 years.

Wel Peter…Kia/Hyundai are some way in front of most manufacturers and EV’s in particular. I think they have got a bit off target with Genesis but that will be short lived. The electronic screen door “mirrors” are a very bad Idea..in effect useless and as you say, the tiny screens are non adjustable and the right hand one is covered completely by my hand holding the steering wheel. I think they are such a flawed design and concept that they should be withdrawn from sale immediately and banned by legislation because they are dangerous..even the Genesis man agreed with me that they are rubbish! That rear view mirror is a different thing though..fine and of course on many JLR cars now….perfect for any van though!! The EV9 will sell fast..comments on the price are understandable but the roads are filled with £80,000+ cars now so people are buying them. Good work again. Richard 😀😀😀😀

It's not a car priced for everyday people. It's a large modern new suv. It's going to cost money You can get a 2 or three year old Tesla long range or a ford Mustang Mach-e for £30000 so that's cheeper. A standard range Tesla for 28000 If that's still to expensive. Then get a 2022 mg4 for £21000 That's cheaper than a brand new fiesta. If someone can only afford to spend £10000 on a new car then they aren't going to get one whatever the make or how it's powered.

Err...yes, it doesn't burn petrol or diesel with all that entails in terms of toxic emissions. Also, electricity can and is being increasingly produced by renewable sources. Last year I did all my driving of 19,500 km on the electricity from my solar panels. The anti-EV rhetoric is getting ridiculous and the petrol heads never seem to consider where their fuel comes from. It takes huge amounts of energy to pump crude oil out of the ground, ship it, refine it and ship it again to the petrol station....not to mention the spills and leaks that cause endless amounts of environmental damage along the way. I can drive my EV 25 miles on the electricity it takes to refine a gallon of petrol, and that's only one stage in the wasteful, toxic process of the oil industry.

For a mid-size SUV this actually might sell well in Australia. SUVs here (Toyota RAV4 and Kluger/Highlander, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX9 etc etc) are the third most popular type of vehicle after dual cab utes (Ford Ranger, Isuzu DMax, Toyota Hilux and Dodge RAM) and 4x4s like the Landcruiser, Prado, Patrol etc. Sedans and station wagons are becoming less popular, leaving mainly small hatchbacks in 4th position. Even though our fuel is much cheaper than in the UK and outside of coastal main cities EV facilities are few and far between, I think this will do well. What this country needs for EVs is one that can drive off road, tow 3 tonne and cross creeks, all with a 700km + range with the AC on 24/7.

In olden times the affordable cost of a new family car was estimated to be one third of the family income. Apply that now and to buy the basic Kia EV9 the family would need to earn £195,000/year. However, times have changed. If we take a young family with two kids with a mortgage, rates, gas, electricity, food, clothes and financing an EV9 then the family income would need to be around £80,000/year. No holidays allowed though.

Can't believe the price! The using an EV to store electricity is an interesting concept. As with all these clever ideas, it will ultimately lead to electricity prices going up during off-peak if everyone charges their car to power the house during the day! If this pricing persists though we have a major problem as £70k+ for a Kia, who's market is normally well below that level, just isn't affordable and is going to price people out of EV's. I think we will see another two generations of car battery tech before 2035 which is going to make the residuals on the current over-priced offerings extremely poor. Rent if it makes sense financially for the lease period, but buy at your peril I think.
