Hi Offroad.cc, thanks for a quick review! I had a Rockhopper, albeit a more budget one, but I am looking at the 2021 Expert as I'm going a bit back to basics after a stranded Fuel EX9. However, you are hitting the nail here with the comment about potentially struggeling to service-upgrade such a rig due the non-tapered steerer and the QR setup. On top of that, Specialized Nordic seems to retail it at approx £1250! So, I love the looks of them, but I wonder if I should just turn away and rather consider a Canyon 7 (meaning dropper, 120mm tapered fork, and thru-axles are included) or maybe even the Specialized Chisel. What do you think ?

Hi Denise, we ride both 27.5 and 29er wheeled bikes here at off-road. I think you'll find 29er wheels roll better over bumps and you'll get used to the handling of the bike in no time! For reference, it's me (Rach) in the video and I'm 160cm.

@@offroadcc aaaaa...so you at 160 ride also 29" :) Now you just made my decision easier. What about the size of the fram size? I just got back from a bike store - they had a 2020 version of the rockhopper in S size and 29" wheels and I think that is my size. They didn't have a M on 29 wheel to see the difference. On the Specialized site, at 170 cm they say it's an M size - but an M and 29 wheels I think it would be big for me (I don't have long legs only log torso =))) I have 79 cm from the inside of my leg up to the heel (I that right to say? =))) As your expert opinion (clearly better than mine - at this pric point - 1000-1200 euro - which would be your pick? @@denisenimigean6104 Hey, no worries at all! I'd defo see if you can find somewhere to try the Medium rockhopper so you can see the difference between that and the small. I think I'd put you on a medium, regardless of wheelsize. The Trek Roscoe 7 is also a good bike, it just comes as a 27.5" bike though so if you are thinking of covering miles on bigger rides you might find the Rockhopper more efficient. The Cannondale also looks like a cool bike, that one gets boost spacing at the axles so it would be easier to upgrade component like wheels and forks later on over the Rockhopper. If I were you I'd see if you can find one at a shop to take a look at, see which one is more comfy and which one you feel most at home on and go with that! Hope that helps!

Looks like it, according to description on their website: "A heart of gold, presented in our lightweight yet durable Premium A1 Aluminum, the Rockhopper features butted aluminum tubes in order to keep weight low and strength high, all while providing increased standover clearance, slick internal cable routing and dropper-post compatibility. With the goal of making sure that the Rockhopper offers both the best fit and best performance for every person, no matter their measure, we’ve paired each Rockhopper frame size with the optimal wheel size. The result is a Rockhopper to fit every rider and the assurance that every Rockhopper is rolling on the best-handling wheel for its frame size."
