I've had one of these for 4 weeks now and have covered over 500 miles so far. It is super comfy but does take a bit to wind it up to speed, once there it holds on to the speed very well. It's my winter bike and is perfect for the rubbish roads in the UK. Fitted mudguards and lights no problem. The disc brakes work fairly well once bedded in. Tyres roll surprisingly well for such a wide/heavy tyres. Yeah the bikes are a bit weighty but they carry it well. Small is 10.9kg with pedals and a XL is 11.4kg. I even don't even mind the compact drive (Am old school) although you find you can start to run out of gears at higher speeds. The new sora groupset is very smooth and crisp. I've ridden more bikes than I could ever remember and I'm more than happy with the RC500 for the winter months and its well worth the money. Highly recommended bike for a bargain price.

@@KASTRO1o They did a review on the rc 520. They share the same frame, pros and cons stated there stand for this bike as well. The Sora R3000 has been reviewed many times. We learned, that the wheels are robust and heavy and it's a pain in the ass to change tyres. From where I see it, the only question to be answered is, how the Promax discs work, especially on the long run. A fellow rider made a video about his impressions, says they work okay, but not better, than a quality rim brake. Also, there is a Bikreadar review.

@bonzobanana1

Seems the bike is a smidgen heavier than expected. Perhaps now the Triban brand has higher weight limits than btwin. I could never ride a btwin as well over their 100kg total load weight limit (including bike weight, accessories, luggage etc) but can ride competitor's bikes that allow up to 160kg in some cases total load. I realise this is only an issue for a minority of cyclists but 100kg total load can mean less than 80kg rider weight limit when you take everything into account which is less than the average weight of a man in the UK. I know the bike is unlikely to fail immediately if overloaded but will massive increase fatigue and probably take many years off the frames lifespan and could cause a fatality in a few years if it fails in heavy traffic. I wish these reviews would address the weight limits of Decathlon bikes. The reviewer mentioned use as a touring bike but how is that possible with such low weight limits. Some of the Decathlon bikes look great value but until the weight limits are improved just seems like a dangerous option unless you are light or you are one of those people who changes bikes frequently so you never have to worry about accelerated fatigue because the bike will be ridden by someone else by the time it gets dangerous. If you make a frame that has good feel, i.e. springy and responsive you do so by making the frame less rigid and therefore more likely to fatigue with use with aluminium so the weight limits are less. The art of good frame design and manufacturing is to make a frame responsive without effecting weight limits and feels like Decathlon are producing great frames as long as you are a lighter rider only. I just think maybe reviewers should bear in mind a aluminium frame with a harsh ride (no give or flex) could actually be much stronger and safer and some larger profile tyres may sort out the ride quality issue anyway.

I’m enjoying the bike so far kzitem.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

@@ynotnilknarf39 Trek hybrid, cracked on the top tube junction after 2-3 month's, got it replaced under their ' life time guarantee', this time after two month's the new frame cracked at the down tube junction, the shop said 'this is the last time we do this', and the third bike thankfully got stolen before it cracked. I have to ask how much you weigh, and if you use balloon tires. As a material under repetitive stress alu cannot rebound that stress and will degrade. Balloon tires and some suspension might help.
@ynotnilknarf39
5 жыл бұрын
@@sandydennylives1392 But your one example is anecdote out of hundreds of thousands just from one company alone in one year, your statement is sweeping and misguided simply because you got unlucky. I'm currently 98kg, on the alu/cf hybrid I've been up to a max of 107kg, (and I rode 22mm tubular carbon wheels at that weight too on my racing bikes) I'm an ex rugby league forward so put out a decent wattage and I've gone loaded touring on the bike plus even carried another person 1.5miles a few times from work on the same alu bike with an all up load of around 180kg. Going back further the bike before that was a 2001 Ridgeback genesis Day02, flat bar alu racing geo but with guard and rack mounts, alu forks too and that withstood all sorts including been sideswiped by a car and me going loaded touring on it as well as daily grind to work and supermarket trips. Does alu crack, yes it does, just like steel can, just like Titanium can. Are some frames worse than others, yes, are some frames built poorly and have flaws in the manufacturing process, yes. That still doesn't prove your statement in any way other than outliers and also people using lightweight products for something they were never designed for. You make the choices for yourself what you ride but without hard evidence of massive failures across the board like you said alu is ALWAYS cracky after a few months, then your statement holds no water, less so since you've never ridden this frame or probably many other types either.

Perhaps with balloon tires and front sus but i just don't know.
