This is a rig that I would consider as a single, full time rv living rig. Still bigger than I need, but had the space I prefer to feel comfortable. I appreciate the addition of an office space, finally. This is a fantastic step in a right direction, IMO. Question: does the left theater seat have room to recline? From the video it appears as though the foot rest might catch on the hide a bed sofa next to it, even with the slide all the way out & the bed hidden away. I prefer to not have the beam, especially if it isn't structural & I'd prefer only one hand rail in that narrow step space, not both. I don't mind floor ducted heating; I do mind the placement of the ducts - right where one is guaranteed to stand while cooking or doing the dishes. Might be willing to trade a peninsula countertop or the bottom cabinet in the pantry for a small dishwasher. Love the huge bathroom, & the fact that someone had sense enough to open up that bottom shelf for dedicated waste basket space. That person deserves a raise. In the bathroom is the only time I prefer open face storage. BR is usually the smallest room in any rig, doors take up precious square inches in an already small space. A person would need a unique storage option/ idea with or without doors & while reaching around a toilet. Same with the shower door. I'd rather have the option for a shower curtain. Can the shower head be switched out while keeping the height adjustment? Normally I would want a king bed; in this one I would opt for the queen for side stand room. No W/D for me, personally. I'm nit picking here, but I prefer better organization of the wires in the box in front, with a generator installed. Spare tire & cargo tray!? *chef's kiss* I'm a fan of a good solar solution. What's the small space just to the left of the lockable drink drawer? Functional, or just wasted space due to design or structure? Great rig, definitely has promise. Thanks again, Uncle Josh. 👍👌

I agree with the bottom ladder rung being difficult to get to. Also, as an older person (70+), that spare tire and stinky hose placement is getting harder to access. For my money - Keep the floor space whole up front and pull one of the couches out to put a bigger desk there. If I really needed a dedicated offfice, I still like the mid-placed slide out bunk/office in other models. Nice master, again, great storage. About the shelves over the bed windows. They look big enough for a PAP machine, and I love that they put plugs right there. Josh, I can tell you that newer (the current and previous generation) of ResMed machines should be fine on the shelves. My wife and I have ResMed CPAPs. She has the AirSense 11 CPAP and I have the AirSense 10 VPAP. We have always had them on a shelf above our bed in both places we have lived since getting them around 2016. With 2 large service dogs we don't have the space for nightstands. I believe that they say not to put them above your head because water from condensation can sometimes flow down the hose. We have fabric that zips around the house to help insulate. If we ever get water in the house it's because we may have "forgotten" to clean part of the equipment for too long. A nice cleaning of the screens on our masks and we are good to go. I have a pillow mask and my wife has a nasal mask, if that helps. I would totally be putting our CPAPS up on the shelf. Looks like it wouldn't be a problem making them fit even with a phone and glasses. I might put a coat hook screwed into the side of the shelf if the shelf is thick enough.
@JoshtheRVNerd
Жыл бұрын
TY. That's super handy. I've also heard you shouldn't have them above your head. Is that all machines or just some?
@driverbass1554
Жыл бұрын
@@JoshtheRVNerd I can only speak about the ResMed machines we have used. The concerns I've seen about them over the head would be, as I said before, is moisture and the machine falling. My wife and I have hose covers that help me insulate the hose. We do not use the heated hoses because when we tried, we actually had condensation in the hose, which goes against what should be happening. Typically a heated hose is supposed to dry the moisture in the hose be found it made more moisture. So non-heated hose it it for us. As far as another common concern, a machine getting knocked off the shelf, we run the tube thru a shelf support similar to what is shown in the video. If we ever roll over and snag the hose, the shelf support will stop the machine from falling. Also the ResMed machines foot print should be fine to fit on the shelf. Adding a little lip like maybe flipping over one of those metal stair nose things across the front could add some "added security". Sometimes tho, you have to see "what really works for you" instead of what "they" say, if you know what I mean. In our bedroom, this is the only option because we refuse to have them on the floor with the dust bunnies!🤣😂🤣😂 😃👍 Keep up the great work, man!

I would personally have a difficult time cooking or doing dishes while watching were I place my feet. Having peripheral neuropathy in my my feet due to a flu vaccine, it would be incredibly painful stepping on the vents. Also the possibility of dirt and food falling into the vents would be a concern. Why is it so difficult for manufacturers to put a privacy shade in the door window...that pulls up from the bottom? 🤔 The lack of nightstand space in the bedroom is a deal breaker, it's too difficult to reach the shelf over the bed.

I really like this rig as I'm looking for one with a built in office, but I'm not a fan of the front cap windows, i.e. potential leaking problems as you drive down the road in a rain storm. Hopefully, Keystone would offer this without the window.
@JoshtheRVNerd

Normally, no. it would come with the windshield. All of them built for dealer stock will include that feature though it MIGHT be possible to order one of these with a solid cap used off another model… but we’d have to check with the factory if they’re willing to do it

Thanks for the in-depth look at this one. I've seen others do a quick run-through, but until Josh does it, it ain't done. The *only* thing I don't like about this is we are solidly in dually country on this. Ford Rangers need not apply. BTW, I had a literal laugh out loud on "population control center armrest".

Instead of the outlets under the desk and the hole on the desktop. Why not use a pop up power tower around where the hole is. It definitely wouldn't be in the way of someone's knees. Just my 2¢.

I like the power location for the office for wire management. Some of us are OCD and need to have all the wires tucked out of the way. I would put my Mac Mini or iMac there, so the power wire below is perfect! At these weights and lenghts, when do you start think about an 18 wheeler cab?

The husband and I are in the market for a 40+ ft 5th wheel for full time living. We just bought a 2014 Freightliner to tow it. By the time a dually pickup with a tow package got down to our price range, they were too tired to be reliable. The semi cost us less than our minivan to purchase and still has plenty of life left in it for no more work than we will ask of it. Once they get around 750k - 800k miles, trucking companies want to replace them so they don't have to rebuild the engines. 200k miles is maybe two years of work left for the company, but that distance may very well take us the rest of our lives lol. On top of that, they are designed to haul 80k pounds all day, every day. A 21k pound RV is essentially retirement for these trucks. The only sticky part for most folks is actually driving the thing. The husband was an OTR trucker for 10 years and has kept his CDL valid, so it works for us.

@@FFXIShadea nice! My wife went down this train of thought but we don’t have the space to park either unit
@FFXIShadea

@@betterwithrum That is a concern for us as well. We intend to live in the RV full-time, but there is always a transition period for things like that. Originally, we were going to sell the house to pay for the rig outright, but then the option to rent to my sister came up, and we're working on that now. The idea of having a basecamp we can transition from or occasionally come back to is pretty appealing. We'll have to park partially in the yard, but we are blessed with a larger driveway than most, so it won't be as big of a deal.
@betterwithrum

@@FFXIShadea That's awesome! I agree, a basecamp is really nice. With little ones in school and my job that isn't an option for us right now, but I'm looking forward to that option one day.

What a great floorplan! I love the front office. I don't know if it would live better than a middle office, but it's very cool. I don't like the location of the floor vents. The one near the stove will end up being a nasty buffet.

excellent office setup, i personally would still rather have desk in place of the camp side couch, only because my computer along with the xbox, IS part of my entertainment center, fully integrated with big screen tv, sound system and all, computer being major part of living room setup, plays movies and music more than other devices or inputs a majority of the time.. crank the stereo, playlist on computer, watch a movie, streamed from internet or drive, no need for extra dvd player, xbox solves that if need another dvd slot..... but this is still totally awsome regardless, that office is best i seen in an rv, i would still want that office even if did have a desk in living room too... i do have more than one computer after all, and would want that dedicated work area as well. bedroom tv is great spot, i like above the window when possible for rvs... road mode does suck balls, but as usual something has to give somewhere to get other features... on this one and the way i could imagine it being used, not a huge problem.. people will probably be in a spot the full 2 weeks most allow, doing their work from home thing, or someone like you spending 5 days at a show for work, not driving 8 hrs every 2 or 3 days constantly on the road, constantly needing to stop at stores enroute or overnighting in places that dont like you to spread out, parking lots etc.

I'd like that as an option in place of "taildragger" bunks. 42 feet is long for my taste, by I love the idea; in a like 30ft bunkhouse layout would be really nice. By quick guesstimate, that's about 4 feet deep (and 8ft-ish wide), with 18 inch desk? That's a decent sized workspace. My cubicle is 6x6ft, so comparable overall volume. (And seems in the realm of Ember's storage lockers?)

This is an awesome unit, though not my cup of tea. The floor heat doesnt bother me, but the location in the kitchen.... Putting a vent under one of the most crumb heavy locations, the stove, is DUMB. The 2 places I have to clean the floor at home in the kitchen most is in front of prep table, and in front of the STOVE. And this being a Montana, and an office, its likely with full timers in mind, amd full timers are more likely to actually use their kitchen. So yea, not a fan of that. Thanks Unc.

@Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV of course. Idk, just seems afterthought-ish to me to have them there. Id even take a single vent in the middle vs the 2 at sink and stove. Nitpicking I guess but, at Montana prices I think a bit of nitpitcking is warranted.
