A "hindsight idea" for the first pond. Get some field tile like DP uses and run it ACROSS where that spring bubbles up and then down into the first pond. With it being buried the entire length it would route all of that water (and a fair amount of other ground water) directly into the pond, maybe through a "waterfall feature" depending on the property owners budget.

A story from 50+ years ago I was working with a kid, he was telling about his dad who worked for a trucking company as a mechanic. He was sent to eastern Oklahoma to fix their trucks. Well 1 was setting in the corner, all of the running gear gone, asked what happened. The story was that they were putting the riprap on the face of the dam they would turn the truck crosswise on the top of the dam & hook a dozer winch to the front bumper, get back in the truck & ride it down hill so he could open the tailgate. He’d light a cigarette & go for a ride. The cable broke, they never found the cigarette or any part.

Awesome job Chris - as always!! Maybe in a future video you might touch on how you determine the size and type of overflow system to install. Some are concrete boxes up to 4 feet wide and some are corrugated drain tubes. Some drain pipes exit at the bottom of the dam - this one exits much closer to the top. My guess is cost, pond surface area, dam height and potential pond fill rate during a heavy rain all play into the decision making process.
