Like watching a country boy listen to Luther Vandross or Teddy Pendergrass sing for first time, it's a real wake-up call. Personally I am an older country boy from Oregon and I love any voice that can melt a woman's heart with such passion, when you can't sing yourself you have to find a way to say what's on your heart and Chris, Luther, Teddy, Isaac Hayes, or even instrumentalists like Grover Washington Jr. have all played a part in many of my relationships in the past. Thanks, great reaction.

True story....this song was originally written by George Jones about his wife Tammy Wynette. George was a notorious drinker. His nickname was "no show Jones" because he cancelled so many shows at the last minute due to him being too drunk at 8 pm to go onstage. He met her, fell in love and married her. He quit the bottle too....for awhile lol. That's when this song was written, when he was sober. Although ill admit Stapleton's version is my favorite. Hilarious end to the story about George. A few years later Tammy kicked him out for drinking but not before pouring out all his liquor at their ranch. He goes to the tour bus in the barn to find a bed for the night. He finds a bottle of whiskey made by Elvis, the King gave to a small select group of friends only. Like less than 200 ever made. Its the only thing he can drink and he opens it. The only cup in the entire bus is one of those old plastic Fred Flintstone mugs from A&W restaurant. He wrote a song about that moment...the moment he decided to commit to drinking again and leaving his wife. "So say goodbye to Elvis,I filled Fred up to his pelvis, yabba dabba doo,the King is gone...and so are you!" 😜
