I just got a 1947 running (sorta). The motor is a 134-F out of a 1953 M-38 I believe. It too hasn’t run for many many years. What fun. I’ve rebuilt the carb, but still can’t seem to get it running without almost full choke. Heading back out to my shop in a few minutes to pull the carb off again and try and source my error... Great video. Wish I could borrow your talent for a few days! Ok back to work ( fun)..

Great video lots of great information. I just started a project just like yours. My question is the 1948 cj2a that i'm restoring has a starter solenoid with only 3 terminals. It does not have an auxiliary terminal. How would I bypass the ballast resister in the starting circuit?

I fired up my 6v Go Devil in my 48 a few weeks ago for the first time in around 20-25 years. I understand the happy feelings when it fired up...lol. My tub is off, so after I drained and serviced the transmission, transfer case, diffs, and flushed and bled the brakes...I strapped a seat on it and drove it around my yard too. Fun projects!

Thank God it started before he wore the butterfly shaft out on the new carb.

Great video! I’m faced with virtually the same situation and very interested in sufficiently pre-oiling the engine. Is it possible to spin the oil pump with the distributor removed? I also liked the wiring explanation for bypassing the ballast resistor through the solenoid. Great presentation, but you had me mumbling “choke it”! Thanks.
