Nash turned starters into allstars and role guys into starters. He made the TEAM better. AI as good as he is no disrespect did not have the same affect on his teams. @Israel-nb7ip
5 жыл бұрын
@@kevmoney29 it had shit to do with the rule changes. They BOTH came into the league the same year and played under the same rules. It's about the player's philosophy and the coach that's implementing that philosophy. Iverson just wasn't a team player the way you need to be to win at an NBA level. I saw it with my own eyes his whole career where he'd take a contested shot on 3 on 1 fast breaks. Also, Nash in his 2nd MVP year led a team without Amare to 54 wins and a trip to the Eastern Conference finals with Boris Diaw playing center and the only other all star level player being Shawn Marion so he carried some teams too, but he did it a different way. AI has more talent but Nash was just better at playing winning basketball. I'd take Nash over AI but AI has more individual talent.
@kevmoney29

@@Israel-nb7ip I like your points so why didn't Steve Nash play in 1 NBA finals ???? An yes nash benefited from the euro b's rule changes an had d'antoni as his coach who practically coaches his players not to play defense if you put A.I in that Phoenix system he would average 35 an 7 assist for his career an would have made the finals more than twice brother I'm sorry all them 60 win teams don't mean crap if u can't get out the 2nd round fact I love nash but he's not in Iverson's relm
@Israel-nb7ip
5 жыл бұрын
@@kevmoney29 I really don't understand your point about the rule changes. Most of the rule changes were about no hand checking or physical contact going to the rim. Other than that, teams were allowed to play zone defenses. How do those rules disproportionately benefit Nash? AI was a penetrating guard so if anything he benefitted from those rule changes more than anybody. Nash didn't make the finals because he played in a loaded western conference against great teams like the Mavs, Lakers and Spurs. The one year AI got to the conference finals and the finals, the east was at an all time low. AI could've put up ridiculous stats with D'Antoni but how much more than he already did? He was shooting anytime he wanted and playing 40 plus mins a game. Plus, D'Antoni's system was also based on ball movement originating from the main ball handler and AI wasn't that kind of player. Why didn't AI do anything when he was with Denver and played with Melo? And don't tell me he wasn't in his prime because if you look at his stats when he got there the first season and then the second season, they were vintage AI stats. He just didn't play winning basketball. He was a low percentage volume shooter with bad shot selection and he wasn't a leader. Like I said, he had more individual talent than Nash but he wasn't a better basketball PLAYER, in that he didn't understand how to play the game efficiently or to win. It was all about him putting on a show. Nash can put on a show, get his teammates involved and play winning basketball. He was doing that under Don Nelson too so it wasn't just about D'Antoni's offense. And he made a couple of conference finals WITHOUT D'Antoni so you can't make it just about him. Nash was a great basketball player 4 seasons of 50/40/90? That's unheard of. Nash was just a better basketball player, AI was And 1 basketball taken to the highest level.

@@Coldskin1 You've made multiple comments saying Amare was averaging 26 and 9 and had better stats than Nash in 05. Now you're gonna say Shaq could've been mvp that year when HIS team mate Wade was averaging more points and way more assists? Lol fuck outta here with your garbage takes.

Shaq was still a better 2way player than wade. not only amare was 26 and 9. marraion was 19 and 11 and joe johnson avg 17 nash was literally the 4th scoring option on that team. amare played better defense and avg more than 10 ppgs than nash that is a huge defense

Stephen Smith is crazy Nash cant carry the Suns. When Marbury was the PG of Suns, they cant even advance to 2nd round and even miss the playoffs. When Nash arrived in Phoenix , from 29 wins ,he turns the franchise to 60 wins. Sometimes its not all about talent bit the right person to make those talent be on another level. He makes his teammates better. Iverson obviously is a better basketball player but later on his career was a mess because of his attitude and acceptance of the role.
