You really nailed the explanation of the fear of heights thing. I have 41 jumps and I am petrified of heights. I tried to explain to my friends that the vertical at that height seems surreal, like you said, a Google map.

I went with a friend that did a few jumps already. We were laughing pretty much the whole time (our dynamic) so I wasn't nervous at all, let alone think about the build-up to jumping. Find a friend who makes you laugh and do your first tandem together even if neither of you have jumped before. You won't regret it!

yeah actually me and my friend were talking about how you are more likely to get into a car crash then have any serious or any injury or even die from skydiving. and actually while we were saying that we actually ended up passing a car crash on the other side of the highway we were on and it was pretty serious and again it happened just as we were talking about how you are more likely to be in a car crash then have anything bad happen to you while skydiving.

to be honest for me it did not look like a google map but it actually at one point looked like i was looking at little models of houses and cars and even some of the people. like they looked like little toys when when i was jumping at least that was my experience. and it was even more so after the parachute opened up lol.
@chuteslocos13

On my experience only one time I have problems to breath and that happen on my first practice of head down but another reason I guess more technically it's because the neutral position its wrong I can think that I'm right but my face it's facing to the ground and all the pressure of the air so it's like air punching in your face literally so the belly or neutral said that the chain up and that create like aerodynamic position and the first hit the chest and going to by your kneck and keep going up this helps alot specially to new skydivers at least found their own way or Technic

I would like to point out that panic/anxiety attacks don't cause all breathing issues in freefall. I have done 52 jumps now. I have only ever had issues on 1 jump. It wasn't an anxiety attack. It was due to falling through an ice cloud. We were up at 8600 feet when I exited the plane. We were jumping directly into the cloud using gps to mark the drop zone. I fell through the cloud for about 3000 feet before coming through. Since I wear an open face helmet and goggles it was actually really hard to breath. When I checked the temp gauge on the plane it was -8°c. So falling at 124 mph (according to my audible altimeter ) it was kinda rough. My goggles needed the ice wiped off under canopy as I was being hit with ice/sleet tull I dropped under the cloud... was kinda like trying to breath with your head out the window of a vehicle driving very fast in the winter. Once I was lower I could breath fine. Just hard to breath ice chunks... -9°c falling through clear sky is fine. 😊

I'd agree with the comment about 'fear of heights'. I'm much more scared/jittery looking down from a skyscaper or cathedral (say 500 ft high) than looking out of an aeroplane (15000ft). The 'reality' of the height/fear of falling/level of insecurity = much more intense when stood on a tall building - from a great height the ground seems 'unreal' (almost like looking at Google Maps).

No it doesn't. However I did experience it once when I did jump when being slightly sick (yeah, I wanted so bad to jump). So I came down with a internal high pitch tone in my head and I couldn't hear anything. After 10 minutes it went back to normal (but felt more sick). Of all the other skydives I did I never experienced anything on my ears. So if you're sick....yeah you could but only an idiot would go up and jump.

Hello. I will attempt to cross this of my bucket list in August this summer. I have two concerns. I get nautious very easily with anything that spins..is there a lot of spinning and can I ask the instructor to minimize body spinning. I can't even sit on a swing with out feeling sick. My next question is in regards to parachute opening shock.. How much force is exerted during deployment? Thank you Jake from porcupine
@SkydiveVibes
