Please keep the nice long and detailed (English) review / testing coming. Far better than the short and crap sound of MCN. Well done :)

You did a great presentation. Really enjoyed learning about the Suzuki. In my opinion, you have Ducati fans, KTM fans, Yamaha, Kawasaki, BMW fans. Suzuki seems to be a brand alot of people love to bash. I've been riding since 1971 and I can tell you - Suzuki has always been a leader when it comes to being innovative. The first and only roto engine in the RE5. The first digital readout with the GT380 in 1974. The GXR - invented the current superbike format. The list goes on and on. All bike brands help make what we have today. And Suzuki has always been in the forefront with their contributions. I would buy the Suzuki because I like Suzuki. Others would buy their's more likely because they are loyal to their brand. It's a shame though that a lot of people use the comments to bash others views even though they never have anything of their own to present for others to judge.

I just got a chance to have a look at one and sit on it myself at the IMS, and I can tell you that it is definitely a very well thought out and laid out bike. It has the most comfortable and natural feeling ergonomics I've ever experienced. The seat is a real stand out in and of itself, with no high-pressure points whatsoever. I would expect most people to be very happy and satisfied with the stock seat on this bike.

I just purchased a left over '14, 650 and this review is what I needed to make the trade to the 1000. I should have ridden the 1000 before I purchased the 650, but I didn't. My fault and I'll eat the $ to make it happen. Great reviews from Europe. Only if we can get guys in the US to do them. Straight to the point, facts and examples. Awesome.

Great review! Thanks for posting. I rode one last year when I was working Auckland, NZ and we toured for 3 days around the picturesque North Island of New Zealand. I was daunted at first to ride such a big bike as I'm only 5'7 but once I rode it, it was very comfortable and easy to ride. I'll definitely will test the new one. Thanks again. Keep up the great work! Cheers, from an Ozzie now living in Hong Kong.

I like the video how you said that's it's make for everyone to ride. I also have found other videos that just had people's preference of negative about it and then I would have people that just love it and it's just I had my chance to ride a 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS and I forgot my license so I wasn't able to ride it and then there was another dealer because it was a brand new one and they knew that I was a new rider and didn't want to take the chance and I have a mood disorder so they kind of set my mood disorder off. But this place that I am going to get one 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 they have a school behind their business that's big enough for me to test ride it comfortably because I know what to expect with the cruiser but as of right now I never been on this kind of bike I only sat on it Never had a chance to start one to get the feel of it or anything but next year I'm getting me one I'm confident I know my clutch and throttle and controlling it and I know my twist and turns and looking where you want to go I'm ready I can't wait I'm enthusiastic about it.

looks like the right bike for me. comfort, torque, good price. don't have to be changing gears all the time. vstrom reliability. probably has road behavior like 1200 gs, but at half the price.

Nice review. Thanks for sharing as we can not find much info yet. :-) It seems Suzuki did their homework all these years adding various features to make it a fine all rounder. In a time when most competitors have moved to the 1200+cc range, 1000cc might prove to be a smart move. I guess it price will be a decisive factor in its commercial success. Speaking of which, was there any indication of price? Do you know if the new V-Strom 1000 will be Japan made like the previous version?

A ton of utility at a great price. But wow is it ever ugly. I just can't get past something that drains my passion for bikes at a glance. On the plus, V-Strom owners can have a ton of fun and don't have to look at themselves doing it ;)

Was it even a meter off road while doing the test? Or any gravel at all? Would be nice to hear, what the abs and TC is doing there. Also, is the suspension plush or more on the real stiff side?
@1000ps

This is not made for offroad, as you can't switch of the ABS. In Mode 2 the TC is always working, Mode 1 is great on tarmac, but on gravel I would switch it off. This bike is made for touring an travelling on normal roads, it's very comfortable and easy to ride.

Easy enough to wire up a switch to disable it. That said, ABS is getting so good these days that it works well on gravel and dirt if you're not riding super aggressively, at least it does on my Super Tenere.

Was actually my point also - You can totally leave it on (inc) the TC for example on the 1190 adventure. And I´m talking about the normal, not the R version. The old strom was a proper longhauler. I did my SS on it twice and no problems. Needed less weight and better handling though and with some 50/50 tires it would now be an ADV bike just like xc800 or gs800.
