I had lots of experience ON boats but NO experience buying a boat. Just printing out their guidelines and carrying it to a potential purchase is both a confidence booster and a “flag” to the salesperson that you’ve done your homework (whether the sale is private or commercial). Note: trailer part are expensive and can be difficult to install so check that out too.

First not super experienced on boats I've been on them I know the names of all the bass boats and fishing boats and most of the pontoons but I did not know the plus and minuses that you've been teaching and for everything I've learned from you I want to say thank you so much I'm in the market to buy a boat and I started watching you first by the boat you should not buy and taught me a lot and went to look for and in doing so found one that I almost brought but I found a crack trans of mine ran right down the line across to the bolt hole and back not pretty I'm a mechanic I'm sure to fight machinist certified mechanic ASE certified make stick and tag yeah I could have fixed it but it was so ugly that really required some serious overhaul to get those pieces changed out More than I care to invest but I decided to to vote I needed was a small one because most of my legs are never bigger than 10 acres and I do nothing bigger than the Wisconsin dells River so I got myself a 712 it's a 14 ft x 8 ft capable of holding a Honda 25 four stroke as well as all the things that I had added to the boat and things I did not have added because I could do them myself fishfinders and connections are the thing I love to do and know how to hide the lines do it right and keep them away from the vibrations that make them go off a fictitiously in a safe place as well this requires a bit of welding yes but it's all easy and new that I don't mind My point being is you've taught me a lot and forevermore will watch you thank you so much Love to have you on my boat and we do some serious fishing for walleye I know great spots your shoulder to get tired after 2 or 300 pulls all fun

@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon I would like to buy a boat on land. The owner does not have insurance on it so he will not allow for water trial. He says he can can hook it up with water hose and run engine before I even put a deposit down. The boat is a 2008 Chaparral 250. What can I do as i like the boat but want to assure it is sea worthy? Can i purchase insurance for him or get it in my name.

Also, i got a boat history report and it indicates damage but it does not say what. He said when he purchased it from bank it had been reposed and the owner had cut some wires and taken item from it. Could that be the damage?

Thank you for the information, I live in the remote bush of Alaska and looking to get an SJX jetboat as we have lots of creeks and low water rivers. do you think I would be better off with a tunnel hull boat in regard to reliability and repair issues as we don't have dealers or technicians where I live to get boats serviced? thank you

Question..live in Spokane. Snow here. No one wants to put their boat in the water during Winter to sell it even though they advertise it. How do you buy a boat you can't fully test. The local say by the person's character and a thorough visual inspection. What do you think? Thank you.
