marjorie is about her grandmother! she was an opera singer and toward the end of the song when she says “I’d think you were singing to me now” and at the end when it fades out, those are actually Marjorie’s real vocals! she passed away when Taylor was young and had been a huge inspiration for her. she’s credited on the song and it makes me emotional every single time, such a beautiful tribute to her❤️

And if all that wasn’t enough of a tear jerker - you’ll notice the lights in the crowd through the show; these are from wristbands that are handed out to the audience. In Marjorie though, all the wristbands are off. The lights you’re seeing is the crowd putting up the phone lights. I’m pretty sure every crowd has chosen to do this since the tour started! I’ve been lucky enough to attend this tour twice, the second time being LA night 2, and Marjorie had me instantly weeping both times from the first chords.

The movie is edited to shorten the transitions between eras (costume and set changes) but it was still very seamlessly done. I’m sure someone has commented this before, but she hired people from Broadway to help plan and choreograph this show. Explains the theatrical elements especially in the last song, Tolerate It. The man at the table is one of her backup dancers.

Luke, the staging and transitions are so incredibly perfect, Taylor designs every part of her concerts with a little help from set designers but she tells them what she wants and where and what exact minute the raised platforms should rise and fall, when the office for ‘The Man’ is supposed to appear, when the Evermore Cabin has to appear, what colours the wristband should be for every single song, she is an absolute control freak and you can tell. She doesn’t do anything by halves, she never sleeps. My grandma was my best friend my whole life. She taught me everything I know about now she has stage 3 Alzheimer’s and has no idea who I am. When she first was diagnosed with dementia I moved in with her and took care of her for several years. Now she is in a special place just for Alzheimer’s disease. I still live in her home. It’s my only way I feel connected with her. I find books that she has had for years that she bought probably before I was even born on all the things that I am connected to. I can still hear her speak to me through them. I relate so much with that song, the second it comes on I’m completely in tears. She doesn’t know who she is anymore. I couldn’t believe my luck this year when my world collided with the Swifties! I’m thrilled! I am loving the fairytale romance and praying for happily ever after. I was a very casual TS listener, enjoyed a few of her songs but never downloaded her music or purchased an album. I was very fortunate last summer and got to go to the ERAS concert. Oh my, it totally turned me into a fan! I was gobsmacked! I saw Elvis in concert as a child and the TS concert had that energy. I can confidently say ERAS was the best concert I’ve ever been too.

Oh my, I love how wholesome these reactions are. My daughter, sister, and I were in Santa Clara night 1 and in absolute awe, teary the entire time. But the film I can’t help myself, I sob the whole time. You have to find a way to see her. I think she plays in August in the UK also. I would give you tickets if I had them! ❤

We love a respectful husband! Also, to be fair, you didn’t really stand a chance to not cry with Marjorie 🤷♀️😂 I sobbed in my living room watching it when that came on 😂😂😂

I have been attending football games for 30 years. When she played in our football stadium. Her ovation during this part was the loudest I have ever heard not only in that stadium but anywhere. ❤

You said, "UH OH She's looking emotional" and I knew right then you weren't going to make it through the Evermore set without crying. I love the transition from evermore to Reputation, it's such a crazy contrast. Can't wait for next week!!! Arghghghgh

Folklore and Evermore are my favorite albums/eras…so far. It’s how I got into Taylor and now I’ve backfilled with all the other albums…except Rep & TS. I will wait for TV so the money doesn’t go to Big Machine.

I started with the same albums, but didn’t “get” Reputation when I listened the album. Then I watched reaction videos for the Rep tour (especially the opening) and I suddenly got it! For me, this album is best experienced visually. She does still get 50% of the profits from the original versions.

She wrote “Marjorie” with Dessner, as a tribute to her real-life grandmother Marjorie Finlay, an opera singer who passed away in 2003. When she announced the album this week, Swift called it “one starring my grandmother, Marjorie, who still visits me sometimes…if only in my dreams.” She brings in Finlay’s voice at the end-when she confesses, “If I didn’t know better / I’d think you were singing to me now,” we hear Marjorie’s soprano voice singing along with her.

We Swifties struggle to keep up with Taylor's total slayage! She's the GOAT!!!. Taylor is her own muse and she's not afraid to follow wherever the spirit leads her. Genres fall at her feet. We're just going to have to accept that Taylor IS her own genre. It's not pop, not Country, not Rock anymore. It's Taylor Music. It's amazing that she can write songs in such a wide variety of styles and we still recognize it as Taylor Music. It's so distinctive. As Liz Rose said "No one but Taylor can write a Taylor Swift song. "

A little late to the comments, but I was at opening night and you would not BELIEVE the whiplash we had going from the heartbreak of Tolerate It to fucken REPUTATION/Ready For It lmaooo we were not prepared and I’m pretty sure she got some laughs out of lining the set up that way 😂 (Love the emotional intelligence, btw. It’s so refreshing to see someone so confident with it, too. Especially who is raising boys ❤)

I absolutely love your emotional reactions. I cry with you everytime even though I’ve seen the tour many times. You’re a beautiful soul. Taylor is in Tokyo right now. I’ve been watching the live streams and you can definitely hear the difference in the crowd. They are so quiet and respectful. It’s beautiful. Lastly, I don’t have a favorite era. They’re all my favorite. I appreciate them for what they are

Experiencing emotion is so natural. So glad you’re raising your kids to express this. Left to get a drink and stuff during Tolerate It in the concert. It’s a difficult song for me. Made it back for next era!

If I'm not mistaken, there's a video of Taylor saying that she'd to hear the fans sing "what a shame she's f*d in the head" during Champaign Problems, that's why we all scream this part during the song at the concert

I personally love that you cry when you watch TS videos. Crying is a physiological response to being overwhelmed by ANY emotion. So yes grief and sadness are perhaps the most common, but awe, delight, anger, amusement etc also can make you cry. And I am very thankful that you're OK with yourself and modeling that for your boys because boys so often get told to not express emotions and that just effs you up. It's HUMAN to feel things. Being shown that it's not only not shameful to cry, but that it's a powerful expression of being human is very important to their emotional well being and it will make them much better friends, partners, employees and citizens to have things like empathy, joy and appreciation modeled as normal things for men to express. They should be, but patriarchy being what it is, it has been conditioned out of men. As a content creator and parent, you crying on screen is a good thing and brave. So thank you for it.

Lyrics in the Marjorie song hit different. 🎵And if I didn't know better I'd think you were talking to me now If I didn't know better I'd think you were still around What died didn't stay dead What died didn't stay dead You're alive, you're alive in my head🎵 Makes me think about my mom that i lost out of the blue 3 years ago. In September it´s already been 4 years. Feels like it happened yesterday 😭
