This is a simple video documenting our first run with our incubator. We really enjoyed the whole process. The hardest part was WAITING!
Where I bought my incubator: amzn.to/39Gqswh
Turkey Baster (for adding water for humidity): amzn.to/39C2KB8
Portable Foldable Playpen (for after hatching): amzn.to/3yNoa8Z
Heat Lamp: amzn.to/3MvGQhJ
Red Heat Lamp Bulb: amzn.to/3wGNdrt
If you don't want to do heat lamps you can also look into heating plates: amzn.to/3G662Zx
We also found that a small plastic kiddie pool fit in the bottom of the foldable playpen and then can lift out to clean easier.
So we started with 26 eggs and only had 10 hatch. In the video at the end I counted 9 and forgot to mention that we had one sweet little chick pass away a few days after hatching. In the video I mentioned how our power went out on day 17 for 3 hours overnight if I remember right, so I'm not sure if that played a part in a lower hatch rate. I'd be curious to see how the next round turns out if there are no power outages. Also, our GIANT egg didn't hatch and our 2 cute bantam eggs didn't have anything when we candled them. :(
I really don't have any complaints about the incubator.
It was quiet enough to run in our living room and barely hear it.
The directions that came with it are clear and easy to understand.
It automatically turned the eggs.
It came with a candling flashlight.
I only had to add water every couple of days to keep the humidity in the correct parameters. On hot, humid days it would naturally be higher. In things I read it's ok to have higher humidity than being too low.
The only thing I would do differently is maybe do it in a different location, because after the first chicks hatch and their egg shells dry out they start to smell and you don't want to open the incubator while they're actively hatching.
