Feel so fortunate to have seen Ms. Lennox in concert. Was back in the late 90's in San Francisco. And let me tell you. After she finished performing this song you could have heard a pin drop...that is up until she received a standing ovation! A most amazing performance!

Annie is an icon, incredible talent, she looks unbelievable in this video. I've seen it lots of times, but still am in awe of it. In my opinion she is the only female singer/songwriter, who gets anywhere near Kate Bush, that's how highly I rate her.

I knew you would love this. The swelling of the production nests the vulnerable lyrics so comfortably, it pulls you in different directions emotionally. If this song doesn’t give you the feels, then you’re either in denial, or a robot. Either way, I don’t trust you. This (“Why”) is absolutely my favorite Annie Lennox song. Among others No More I Love You’s Here Comes the Rain Again (Eurythmics) Waiting In Vain (Bob Marley Cover) Love Song For A Vampire (Bram Stokers Dracula Soundtrack) A Whiter Shade of Pale (Procol Harum Cover) Honestly Wonderful “Why” is such a brilliantly constructed masterpiece. It takes you from deep sorrow to a glimmer of hope in an instant. Not only just from the words, “I’ve heard it said too many times that you be better off besides, why can’t you see, this boat is sinking?” Then the mood changes ”Let’s go down to the waters edge, we can cast away those doubts.” I also love how she says “These are the contents of my head.” Similarly, in the song “Honestly” There’s the line: I want to hold you and be so held back Don't want to need you, but it's where I'm at Thinkin' about you everyday How come I was made that way? The admittance of frustration at her not being able to control her obsessive behaviors is just refreshing to those of us who have impulse control issues and obsessive thoughts that plague the mind. Enjoyed the reaction!

Music truly is the universal language of emotion, and it’s so delightful watching someone fall in love with a musical artist you fell in love with a long time ago. Not sure how it’s phrased now, but when I was young we’d say “turned on”, as in “wow, that music you turned me onto was amazing!” I’m so glad the audience turned you on to Annie and The Eurythmics. 🌈My partner and I saw Annie Lennox perform this song in the Tampa Theater a historic landmark built in the 1920's. It's an ornately decorated movie theater that seats just 1252 people, so just imagine how personal and intimate this concert was being ninth row center stage. Annie was getting ready to go on tour and was perfecting her act (no need to). Her singing was sublime! It was by far the best concert I have ever been too. She spoke to the audience, and was so personable, so real. With her it's 'what you see is what you get', amazing!

Ms. Lennox is an LGBTQ icon here in the UK. I don't know if it was her androgynous look in the Eurythmics or the great music they produced being played in all the gay clubs but when she went solo with the album Diva in '92 (I think) it was an instant hit. You can see she has the aesthetic and the drama, and her voice is just amazing.
