Heart always made a tour stop near me in Florida every year and I've been fortunate enough to see them in the 70's.80's. 90's and numerous times in the 2000's. I saw them at the Rock Super Bowl at the Tangerine Bowl /Orlando in 1977 and at the King Center in Melbourne fl a few years ago and like Alexis said you could close your eyes and marvel at how her voice has stood the test of time. Seeing her perform Stairway to Heaven at the age of 65 says it all. Legendary

Heart's debut album captured a lot of fans for them. The second album Little Queen that Barracuda came from showed that they were a power to be reckoned with. My wife is from a small country town. This is the town that we got married in. Barracuda was a big hit at the time and my best man and I just cruised through the streets of that little country town the night before the wedding blaring Barracuda over and over again at the highest volume. Got married the next morning and my wife and I went to see Heart playing in Houston that night. I have seen Heart at least a dozen times over the years and that voice never fails.

So just in case you noticed how some of the visuals didn't quite sync with Ann's voice what was going on was that the original studio version was in fact dubbed over this video. Although they had originally recorded that song live something happened to the audio and after about halfway through it sounded warbled and it wasn't enjoyable from that point forward so it was synced as best they could with the studio version. That damaged video is also out there if you search for it. Shout out to the band as well as the Wilson sisters, kick ass rock at it's best.

It was a combination -- their original label did some sleazy marketing that they were justifiably angry about, then at some show, some radio promoter made some remarks playing into what the ad implied. Ann wrote the lyrics back in her hotel room that night. Musically, they were definitely leaning into the Zep influence on it ("Achilles Last Stand" comes to mind).

Both Ann and Nancy are incredibly talented. Ann's vocals are absolutely top tier. Try their "Crazy On You" 1978 Live performance so you can see Nancy's acoustic guitar intro. Their 70's work was stronger overall when compared to their "corporate controlled reimaged" 80's years. Their first 5 albums are full of hidden gem after gem. Their 80's albums had some strong songs, but each 80's album as a full compilation just didn't pack the same "quality punch" IMO.

Having seen Ann Wilson live with Tripsitter a little over 2 months ago, I can verify that her voice still packs the same punch as always and, although she may break on stage more often during instrumental interludes, she puts on as great a live show as you'll ever see. P.S. I definitely join those who urge a reaction to 'Stairway to Heaven', from the Kennedy Center tribute to Led Zeppelin. As you've done the music video of 'Alone', I'd also encourage you to react to some of the more recent performances of that song, both with Heart and Ann's solo projects, in which she does a more stripped down version that really brings out the poignancy of the lyrics.

They were Plant, Page, Bonham and Jones doing what PPBJ did but, they are not the Wilson sisters, DeRosier and company. It's not a better or worse comparison. It's about an impeccable originality. Heart had their own sound and their own songwriting style which Zep would not be able to do better.
