Dan Fogelberg's catalog is so worth exploring. He managed to capture heartfelt emotions in all his songs. RIP to a soulful talent lost too soon.

"Lonely in Love" was off Fogelberg's "Exiles" album which was also known as his "divorce" album. For some reason, Fogelberg never received the credit he deserved. He has an extensive catalog of stellar compositions ranging from rock and roll to bluegrass to classical to blues. An immensely talented singer/songwriter in my opinion.

Me too ! I was living and working in Upstate NY from May through September of 1987 . I was driving around and this song came on the radio . It stayed with me all day and Summer long . That's how I first heard of Dan Fogelberg and his incredible abilities as a songwriter and musician .... Mr Michael Brecker on sax . Now you're cooking with gas .....all the best from Scotland.

Another great song from Dan. He had songs in so many different genres, and they are all excellent. Extremely talented man and he left us a huge catalog of wonderful music. This song is from 1987, but he’s been one of my favorite artists since he first started in the early ‘70s…❤️

Take a look at the credits on his albums. In recording sessions, except for percussion, he plays nearly all the instruments. This man was such a beautiful and soulful talent. I'm lucky enough to have nearly all his albums BEFORE auto tune. Mr. Fogelberg, you are still remembered.

Enjoyed your reaction. Dan Fogelberg has so many great songs and his storytelling and deep lyrics are like no other. Some of his uptempo songs I recommend are Missing You, Face The Fire(hard rock), Phoenix, As The Raven Flies, Language Of Love, Power of Gold, Wishing On The Moon, Empty Cages, Lost in the Sun, Stolen Moments and Times Like These.

Dan Fogelberg was as much a poet as he was a musician. This song was popular many years ago while I was in a love triangle and watching a relationship that meant everything to me tear itself apart. I felt every word of it. This music brings it all back like it was yesterday. It hurt like hell, but I've realized since then that you're never more alive than when you're feeling that kind of longing. I loved seeing the emotion in their faces when hearing it for the first time. Yep! I feel that! No one has captured that emotion better than Dan Fogelberg in this song.

One of DF's jazzier compositions. He could do it all. Ever hear "Is This Magic" from the second Fogelberg/Weisberg collab CD? More or less a 60s Brazilian jazz ballad. Very, very cool.

One of my favorite artists. Dan Fogelberg was such a great folk rock singer songwriter & storyteller. He also played multiple instruments such as guitar, bass, piano & mandolin. I had his double album "The Innocent Age" from 1981. "Leader Of The Band" is my favorite song by him, a loving tribute to his dad. He wrote so many great songs such as "Longer", "Hard To Say", "Missing You", "Make Love Stay", "Run For The Roses", "The Language Of Love", "Believe In Me", "Same Auld Lang Syne" etc. We lost him much too soon in 2007.

Unfortunately I really don't remember this tune that much... Thanks for sharing. Not one of my favorites... I agree with the other comments there's a lot to explore with this man He's pretty talented the song leader of the band is about his father who literally was the leader of one of the biggest college bands there is out there It was a tribute to him and his father was lucky enough to hear him perform it before he passed away really really great song among many.

I 1st met Dan Fogelberg in Denver, Co. @ Ebbets Field in 1974 when i was hitchhiking home from his show that featured Fools Gold as his backing band. They stopped & asked if i needed a ride & i told them "you're heading east to another show & I'm heading west towards Red Rocks area, I'll see ya there sometime". Over the years i attended 23 shows of his including 11 @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Co. Still have the "After Show 06-25-93" passes Dan gave me in my collection of 61 years, (28 yrs stage/photo @ Red Rocks), in and/or around Rock & Roll, Blues & Country music. It's been a humbling experience to have spent my lifetime around such kind, gracious people that allowed a small town boy to be part of their lives if only in the moment...

Thing is with Dan - most of his hits were pretty mellow, and he got labelled as soft rock. He could rock too, as well as play the blues, jazz, bluegrass, and even classical guitar. I think many of his lyrics can stand alone, but then throw in his musicianship, a very underrated artist. I saw him a couple of times solo acoustic, he was also funny as well as a great rapport with the audience. Something I pass on because Dan is one of my favorite artists, talented musician and great lyricist, and he passed away from Prostate Cancer. Dudes, and those of you who love someone of the male persuasion - talk to your doctor about getting an annual PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test. I can personally vouch on the impact. I was diagnosed in 2020 with a very aggressive strain of Prostate Cancer. Here is the thing - I had absolutely no symptoms, yet the early detection (or in my case not too late) allowed for an aggressive pre-emptive post surgery treatment plan, and I have been cancer free for 3 years at the end of this month. I have no doubt that without my annual PSA test, well, I wouldn't be writing this. To be clear, not looking for pity or hey look at me or the like - but even if just one guy becomes more aware that it literally can save a life
