It's the same drummer Rick Allen, this was before his car accident. Another classic Def Leppard you should react to is "Foolin" it's off the same record that "Rock Of Ages" is... 'Pyromania' and as much as I love "Rock Of Ages" I like "Foolin" a little bit more. So hopefully you'll do a reaction video to it.🤞

Rick Allen (drums) of Def Leppard was 15 when he joined the band; he was 19 yrs of age when this was filmed in 1983, from Def Leppard's album 'Pyromania' - it sold 10 million copies in the US... Allen had just turned 21 when he had his car accident in late 1984 & lost his arm... Def Leppard's next album 'Hysteria' was delayed until the fall of 1987. Rick Allen had to acquire & design an electronic drum kit in 1985 and learn to play w/ 1 arm. He played his first shows after his accident in 1986 w/ Def Leppard. Unfortunately, the blond guitarist in the video, Steve Clark, lost his life to addiction a few years later in 1991. As a result, Def Leppard's 5th album 'Adrenalize' did not arrive until 1992, and they recruited guitarist Vivian Campbell to replace Clark. Guitarist Phil Collen had joined Def Leppard in 1982, replacing guitarist Pete Willis... Collen said that back in the 80's, he felt Def Leppard had more in common w/ pop bands like Duran Duran, than heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden... and they had a pop appeal for sure. The album 'Hysteria' actually outsold Michael Jackson's 'Bad' album... 😮 Check out more Def Leppard - 'Rocket' ... "Foolin' " ... 'Hello America' ... "Let's get rocked" ... 'Tonight' ... 'Work it out'... 'Promises'... 'Too late for love' 🔥🔥🤘🤘

After the drummer Rick Allen lost his arm, he spent time in recovery trying to figure out how to play drums again. They originally tried to reattach his arm, but it didn't work out. So he told the band he was going to come back. He figured out a special drum kit that he could play with both feet and his remaining arm. And his band mates, stuck with him. Replacing him was never an option for them. Rick has said in interviews throughout the years that he did have some dark moments. But he pushed through. A couple years after losing his arm and designing his kit, they were back in the studios recording one of their biggest albums, Hysteria. It is a testament to the human spirit, friendship and never giving up. I've got mad respect for Rick Allen and the boys of Def Leppard.

Wow they were so young in this one. The video is a little cheesy. In the beginning of MTV they thought they needed that over produced theatrics but realized we just wanted them. The reason for their success is was they made good music. Legit hard rock for the guys and five gorgeous young men singing and playing to the ladies. Their concerts were legendary. Lots of stories about what went on during and after. But fact is Steve and Phil lit those guitars on fire. With Rick Savage bringing the rhythm. Three guitars make the music insane. Add the power of Rick Allen on drums and Joe Elliot’s great vocals, it was magic. They looked like they were having so much fun. Note…. It was heart breaking to lose Steve in 1991 at 31 years old. Lead guitarist and songwriter left everyone spinning. RIP Steve. 💔

This was before the accident. That happened between Pyromania and Hysteria. His rapid come back less than a year later, teaching himself to use his feet for more drumming, to compensate for the loss of his arm. It was inspiring to everyone. We were all wondering, how can they continue, he was such a good, solid drummer. They surprised us with the announcement of the new album about 9 months later. They had two albums, became famous, then the accident and a new album that went to the top instantly less than a year after we thought they were over or needed a replacement. This was part of a new British Invasion that happened in the beginning of the 80s.

What separates Def Lepard from all those other 80's bands is their harmonies. There aren't many bands that have that layered guitar sound and flawless harmonies. They still tour and they're still a force as a live act. Pyromania and Hysteria are their best albums. Pyromania really put them on the map but The Hysteria album made them Rock Gods. It's chock full of radio hits and was Rick Allen's(drummer) first album back after his car accident. The album took 3-4yrs to make but his perseverance to get back on the kit is inspiring.

Old school Def Leppard is cool but I recommend Pour Some Sugar on Me. On the charts for nearly 2 years. Rick Allen was in a car accident and lost his arm and still drums to this day. This album came out the same day as Thriller and that was #1 while Def Leppard was #2. 5 years later Michael Jackson release his album the same day as Pyromania from DL and kept them from the top spot again. Both had 5 years between albums.

Written by Joe Elliott, the late Steve Clark and Mutt Lange. Produced by Mutt. Thomas Dolby on main synth + programming. Def Leppard + Mutt Lange on backing vocals. JE said he stole the verse from the Bible! Cat burglar! 😸 LOL He referenced the Neil Young song "Hey Hey, My My (Out of the Blue)". This was 1983. The next year, 1984, Mutt rejected the first offer of working with Bryan Adams. They would work together starting in 1990. In the same year, Thomas Dolby visited Mutt and The Cars. Mutt and The Cars would record the album Heartbeat City. This was their bestselling album. Drive was their signature song. No surprise for the title! LoL RIP Steve Clark and Ric Ocasek, songwriter and lead singer of The Cars. Suggested next Def Leppard song: Animal. 🐆🐆🐆🐆🐆

No, your memory is fine. This video was done before the accident where a seatbelt took Rick Allen's arm. Even more amazing was the band didn't have him replaced, they stuck with him till Rick taught himself to play with one arm, using a foot pedal I believe to duplicate the lost arms drum beat. IMO, one of the classiest actions in rock history and why this band is in my top 5 best rock bands ever formed. This is one of their best off the album Pyromania. That album kicks ass big time.

Notice the drummers has two arms? Prior to accident. You caught it. Your right. After his accident they were in a lawsuit with the record label. Because they had promised to more albums in a certain period of time that’s normal. They said well our drummer thinks he can learn to play more drums with his feet and he’s getting better. They said it doesn’t matter you need to get those albums out and on time. They refused to do it without the drummer and giving him the chance to be able to do it. He ended up after about a year of practicing more with adding drums with his feet to be able to perform again with the band. I like loyalty
