She wrote over 3000 songs , got 49 Grammys and 2 Oscar nominations. If you ask me: Dolly Parton is a genius. She had the most incredible careers of all time, starting her singing career as a child from a very poor family in the Tennessee mountains. Being asked about her , sometimes , over the top looks, she explained its with her poverty early in her life and having to wear clothes made from rags (also check out her song "Coat of many colours" you are going to cry). But she also said: "Its quite expensive to look so cheap", her sense of humour and self awareness is just great! ( I dont think she looks cheap, she def. has her own style"!) LOVE DOLLY!

Before there was a Dollywood, there was a Gold Rush Junction and Gold Rush Junction became Silver Dollar City and then Dolly bought the Silver Dollar City theme park and of course the rest is history. I went to Gold Rush Junction in the '70s as a kid twice as part of our church trip. And again in 1980 and 1981 when I was 15 and 16 years old as part of a church trip and school field trip. By then it was called Silver Dollar City. Since it has become Dollywood it is huge and has lots of attractions that weren't available under previous ownership.

She said yes to them remaking it and never really heard much more after that. Months and months later she was driving in her car and heard Whitney’s version on the radio for the first time. Yes, “Jolene” is based on real events from Dolly's own life. The song was mainly inspired by a red-haired bank teller who flirted with her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, all the way back at the beginning of their marriage. .........Dolly Parton estimates that she has written close to 3,000 songs throughout her illustrious seven-decade career. While 450 of those songs have been recorded, Parton hasn't always been the artist to sing them: Merle Haggard, Hank Williams Jr. among others...

DOLORES O’RIORDAN THE CRANBERRIES 100%. Hands down no questions asked- been yelling it in the comments each time the guys are blown away by a female musician in a new video!! Her celestial voice and riot girl hair/androgynous librarian look made her more than human to preteen in the 1990s, her songs broke my heart. (Should have probably realized then I was at least a bit gay lmao.) The cranberries are truly fascinating, but her ability to create remarkable music with only her voice was borderline supernatural. Dolores’s innate talent is shocking and powerful- her voice echoes a century of revolutionary Irish sisterhood reminding the modern world of the long long war, ‘Struggles’, still quietly waging for Irish independence. Dolores was an advocate for civil rights and personal autonomy, both as individuals from societal or colonial oppression. As a true artist her message reaches new ears everyday in lyrics despite her tragic death far too soon and still very recently. -- ‘Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam,’ as it is said in the Irish Gaelic. May her faithful soul be at the right hand of God. -- RIP Dolores. (1971-2018)
