The term you're looking for is time signature for the part where you're talking about bpm's at the end. If you want some of the most crazy ass time signatures in metal, listen to some Dream Theater, specifically Panic Attack. That song was specifically designed to make you feel jittery and nervous when you listen to it because of how wonky the time signatures are in the composition.

@RobTV it's called bpm in every style of music - bpm simply means "beats per minute" and describes more or less the tempo / speed of the music. But I guess what you are meaning with the "odd timing" are either changes in time signature (going e.g. from a 4/4 beat to a 3/4 beat with or without changes in the bpm) or syncopations (playing off-beat).

You might like "The Devil in I", "Before I Forget", and "Psychosocial" by Slipknot too. Originally, I didn't like "Psychosocial" because the melodic vocals in the chorus are vastly different than the rest of the song. Once I got used to that, though, I liked it. Also, search "Joey Jordison sound check" on here. He was their drummer and is still my favorite of all-time. His sound check legit sounded like it could be a song for most drummers. He also played the drums on a special rig that twisted and flipped him and the drums upside down during concerts. He was so talented and taken too soon. RIP Joey.

Duality is a masterpiece of its own and the music video is gold. Wanted to give you a bit of info for these guys that i didnt see from other people to help you on your way. Duality's lyrics were written by the frontman Corey Taylor during the height of his alcoholism and he would get severe migraines that would make him want to push his fingers in his eyes to get to the pain, hence the chorus. The rest is just the frustration he felt at being helpless against the migraines. As hard as this goes they have much harder songs like "Disasterpieces" "Eyeless" "Left Behind" and "My Plague" but what usually hooks most rap fans is "Spit it Out" so have fun with those

I bet you’d like the following, they ain’t all hard as Slipknot nor the same energy, but based on the various things you’ve liked and not liked. In the Panic at the Disco Section: Paramore, easiest intro would be “Misery Business” They’ve changed a lot over the years. Fall Out Boy “Dance Dance” My Chemical Romance, “Black Parade” It’s got a lot of switchups and drama that you’d like, but frankly my fave is “This is How I Disappear” It hits a harder but less gradual ups and downs than Black Parade. You’d like both. Punk (with metal, ska and funk) Fishbone - they play like every genre under the sun. For genre variety I’d hit “Party at Ground Zero” for ska. “Everyday Sunshine” a bit funkish. “Servitude” for something hard and political. For a bit of a surprise, check out Skindred, “Nobody” or “Roots Rock Riot.” I think I’d go with “Nobody” The closest cousin you’d know to them would probably be Korn. Other sides of rock: White Stripes most famous riff ever “Seven Nation Army” Blood Red Shoes “Cold” a personal fave. But they have other good songs. Nothing But Thieves “Amsterdam” I’d do the video. It’s repetitive but amazingly still drama in it and the repetition actually is part of the point of the song and where he was in his life. They have other good songs. Flyleaf “So Sick” Christian band that I saw live touring with Korn. Pretty hard. For a Christian band to roll with Korn is something different in my head. Highly Suspect, I’d start with “My Name is Human” Foo Fighters “There goes my Hero” is super famous and pretty good. I know you got a lot of people suggesting things. I really like Alice In Chains but I understand what you don’t like about them and I actually respect that you share your truth. Too many of these reaction people feel like they HAVE to like shit. I prefer seeing what folks really like and why or why not. I like people fine tuning and expanding their likes and dislikes and having to explain themselves. Explaining yourself often times helps you understand what the hell your thinking. At least that’s what I find.

Some interesting facts about this one: Slipknot is a 9 person band. A singer, a bassist, a DJ, a Synth player, a drummer, 2 guitarists, 2 percussionists. This surprisingly isn't a gimmick as everyone contributes to songwriting as well as the music sounding very lifeless without things like the extra percussion or the synths that might not be noticed on first listen. The album this song is on was recorded in a haunted mansion. No really, it was. According to singer Corey Taylor in his second book, the weird noise loop at the end of Before I Forget was the result of a spirit messing with the recording equipment This song is the band's most played song on Spotify at over 560 million spins. Despite the success of the album and its singles, this is largely considered the band's least favorite album due to high personal tensions at the time of recording and production issues that resulted in a bad mix and some member's worst takes being the ones you hear on the record. Unfortunately, the bassist and drummer for the band when this album was recorded have both passed away. Paul Gray passed in 2010 and Joey Jordison in 2021.

Could you react to One Hand Killing and Long Way Home by Twelve Foot Ninja, Teardrops by Bring Me The Horizon, Wishmaster by Nightwish, Sadie Hawkins Dance by Relient K, and Grazing in the Grass by Friends of Distinction? I think you will love them! 😊

On to my 6th video of yours over the last hour, and what I’m noticing that’s pretty dope, is you appear to like the heavy shit, man. Yeh, that HipHop bridge is fun to cross into metal with Rage, but can already tell you don’t need the rap to enjoy what you’re hearing. Slipknot’s is a nice aperitif with starters for Heavy, but there’s a rabbit hole of Heavy AF shit out there I got a feeling you’ll fck with. Possibly even Death Metal & Black Metal, the heaviest of the heavy shit, haha. Anyway, s/o from Edinburgh, Scotland. Looking forward to seeing you discover more Heavy bands & styles. Keep it up!

Has anybody recommended Silent Planet yet? Their song "Trilogy" was voted one of the best metal songs of the year when it came out.
