Of course, now you HAVE to react to "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes. You'll understand why Eddie Money wanted to include Ronnie and the song in his song.

Eddie Money was one of my favorite singers of the 80s, and this song was one of the best mix of vocals from both Eddie and Ronnie. Now you'll have to listen to Be My Baby; so you know how the original sounds like. As far as Mr. Money; Shakin' is a great song. I Think I'm in Love, and 2 Tickets to Paradise, which someone mentioned already

Ronnie Specter and the Ronettes were huge with "Be my baby" in 1963. They toured with the Beatles in 64, and are famous for using Phil Specter's "Wall of sound" effect for recording. Specter later went on to piss off the Beatles remastering and mixing the album LET IT BE and employing techniques he was asked not to.

This is kind of a 80s Motown nostalgia song, reminiscing about a song by the Ronettes back in 1963, and even featuring Ronnie as backing vocals. Everybody listened to Motown music back in the day (and easy listening / soft rock, pop, country hits, etc.). In reactions people tend to focus more on rock hits, and they may not quite comprehend the broad influences on all of us. FWIW, the Beach Boys also responded to "Be My Baby," though much closer to the release of the original. In 1964, they released "Don't Worry Baby," which was a hit.

Back in the 80's, there was a huge nostalgia craze for the 60's. Sixties music and fashions were everywhere. Those of us who were in our 20's in the 80's were just a bit to young to fully appreciate the 60's so this was a chance to live it. Hearing and then seeing Ronnie Specter in this video hits most of us 60's kids right in the feels! If you like Eddie Money (may he rest in peace!), you should check out some of his other music like "Baby Hold On", "I Think I'm in Love", "Two Tickets To Paradise" and "Gimme Some Water". He is really an underappreciated singer and performer.

Sometimes when I watch people reacting to classics, I think "there's no way you've never heard this song before," but then I remember the time I was working as a cook at a restaurant and I asked the 20 year old bartender to play some blink-182 and he looked me dead in the eyes and said "never heard of them before." I would love to have that feeling of listening to a classic as an adult for the first time.

Hey it's one of your biggest fans from sunny California hope you're doing well! I had to make the comment after I seen this video. My Uncle Tim Barnes used to play for a band called stone-ground in the Bay area and he's in another band now he's played for well he's 70 years old he's been playing since he was in his early teens made enough money to support himself and his whole family with his musical career. The reason I bring this up is because he used to play with Eddie money in the Bay area back in the early 70s, also Stevie Ray Vaughan and got to meet and do a performance with Eric Clapton which I actually have a copy on a cassette tape which I have saved for many many years. My uncle still plays to this day and it was so nice to always grow up being around these kind of people when I was a kid I didn't realize the gravity of it. They all used to play in a place called The Warehouse in Oakland California in the early early 70s when I was just a little girl as I am 53 years old now. Okay had to make this comment but you would think it was cool as I do! Signed always one of your biggest female fans in California love you so much! Signed a grateful fan, Dannie ❣️❣️ ALSO PLEASE CHECK OUT,SHAKIN ' BY EDDIE MONEY,YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

Always liked the music of ‘86. Couple of odd coincidences with this song (1) it charted just a few weeks after Phil Collins exited the chart with “Take Me Home”. Similarly titled, but two very different songs and meanings. (2) it coincided on the chart with another classic rocker making a comeback with uncredited R&B royalty - Steve Winwood, joined by Chaka Kahn, on “Higher Love”.
