Olivia Newton-John is one of the best entertainers of all time. She's been my favorite since 1971. She received the title Dame from the Queen and today is receiving the highest civilian award from Japan, The Order of the Rising Sun. She has survived metastatic breast cancer and has saved countless lives raising awareness with her large platform and a cancer hospital in Melbourne, Australia that bears her name. You have a journey ahead of you listening to her music. Oh, and John Travolta is cool, too.😁

Big shout out to your mother. The comment below is so right there is a whole generation who even today knows every word to every song in this movie and the script too. Yes JT was young but Olivia was older by a decade yet still pulled off playing a teenager. Bless her she is currently battling her 3rd bout of cancer but in her time was one of the biggest stars in the US. During the 80's she spent more weeks at numbe one than any other artist including Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston or the Police. He song Physical spent 10 weeks t no.1 in the US billboard 100 and several here int he UK

I saw the film when very young with my cousin at the cinema and thought it was amazing. Excited, when I got home, I told my mum she should go see it and she said (and I'll never forget her words), "The idea of a perfectly respectable young lady being turned into a thug is not my idea of a good film" :)

As soon as I could afford a vhs player with my own money I bought one and this was the first VHS tape I bought. I had a huge collection of tapes when everything went to dvd. Eventually, my son bought me a vhs to dvd player/recorder so I could dub my tapes I'd recorded off cable tv onto dvd's. The ones I bought I had to buy the dvd of if they had a lock on them to prevent copying. Those were mainly Disney movies for the kids. I have almost 400 movies on dvd now. I've almost gotten back to the size of my vhs collection....lol.

Yes, you have to watch the movie to get the gist of what is going on here. It's a cute movie back in the 50s so I think you'll like it, Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. He started his acting career on TV as Vinnie Testaverde on Welcome Back, Kotter. Olivia has a long singing career and also has been in movies of course, she's from Australia. These are back in the day before they showed sex in movies, they were clean and wholesome. I think you'll like it, some fun songs. And then after this one you have to watch Saturday Night Live with Travolta and disco days and Olivia was in another movie, Xanadu, which was kinda hokey but loved the music in it - ELO.

Super super reaction James xx John Travolta starred in Grease this year. He also starred in Saturday Night Fever. This song was no.1 for weeks and weeks and Summer Nights was another huge huge hit for this pair from the same movie, along with the title track Grease (Frankie Valli), Sandy and Greased Lightening from John Travolta and Hopelessly devoted to you from Olivia Newton John. Later in the year of 1978 ONJ followed up with the fantastic A little more love. 1978 was also dominated by the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.... Bee Gees 'Stayin' alive', How deep is your love, Night fever and you should be dancing. They also shared a track with Tavares - More than a woman and not forgetting possibly one of my all time favourites from this year, Yvonne Elliman's If I can't have you. This year also featured the Electric Light Orchestra who had the amazing Out Of The Blue album featuring such hits as Mr Blue Sky, Wild West Hero and Sweet Talkin woman. Mr Blue Sky is an amazingly uplifting song, if you haven't heard it I would really urge you take a listen. It actually shared the Top 40 charts with Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street and also Kate Bush with Wuthering Heights. xx

Of course, I'm old enough to be your grandma, so your mom may not have had that experience! LOL) Enjoy the movie, JB... It's a classic!

I like your one comment about not being able to make a movie like this today because somebody would complain that he's stalking her. I saw a reaction to the song "Turn Around Look At Me" by The Vogues and, an obviously young person, said that exact thing; that the song was about a guy stalking a girl rather than its true meaning.

The movie was excellent, with about as good a lead pairing as you could get (Travolta was a much better dancer than singer, while Newton-John was a so-so dancer and breathtaking singer). But nothing beats seeing this show live on stage, if you ever get the chance. Innocent fun and pure exuberance without a whiff of today's foul, joyless woke zombies.
