A little story about Mahasti and Elizabeth Taylor. Elizabeth Taylor met Mahasti in 1976 when she visited Iran. In one occasion at the party, they sat next to each other and, Mahasti sang one of her song for her.

the lyrics of this song with most every famous song from this era is by ardalan sarfaraz. now we have a lot of poets from iran, past and present. to me he is the ultimate poet not because of his technique or knowledge of language. on the contrary, his language is very ordinary but purely emotional. that's why he's such a hit in pop music. I love the guy like a father. a brilliant man with a heart of gold. he explains our emotional experiences better than we can understand ourselves. I've got his book. he should be famous around the world alongside of rumi and hafiz

Hi Mace, great choice. I'm sure I did recommend Mahasti on one of your reactions to her sister's song. During the same period, there was also another artist with similar style of song/music but obviously unique in its own way. Her name was (or is; not sure if she's still with us) Homeyra. There are two songs of hers that I particularly like; one is called " Darya Kenar" and the other "Yeki tu fekreh eshgheh". Both are lovely and well worth checking out. Ps, most of your Iranian fans are familiar enough with your personality to realise you're not faking your reactions. Just take the odd negative reactions with a pinch of salt! Have a wonderful day both.

The lyrics tries to display the harmonious act of nature in worshipping God, that everything is alive and worships its creator in its own way and language, and is manifesting a trait of God in itself, for instance, water is a manifestation of God’s mercy and that’s why hell is a place of fire, cause it’s a place where God shows no mercy to., hence, its a burning and waterless place. And more than all the nature, it’s Human that can manifest the traits of God in him / herself the most, and become a vicegerent of God on the earth (the islamic concept of Imamate). It’s where the lyrics says: “Let’s write that God is in the bottom of the heart of the mirror”. Long story short it says that man by worshiping God can infinitely get close to God and become Godly and that’s the point where man reaches control over all nature as per islamic belief God has said: “O my creation if you serve me, I make everything to serve you”

man, I'm so glad that a young white canadian has good enough taste to realize when persian music was good. believe it or not a lot of iranians don't. what you have to understand is the unique period in time these musics were made. first off, persian music has been traditional for centuries. then comes shah, he builds schools, educates people, introduces us to pop culture of the west. he was in power for only 25 years. many of our good artists are a product of shah's efforts. and they made their best work after the revolution in exile. and the crap being made now is the product of post revolution regime. it was a different time back then and short lived. people were happier, nicer. not anymore
