Chester Bennington had very hard life. He was so blessed and talented. He just couldnt over come his demons. He was also major songwriter for lots of artists. And the saying " Sang like an angel, screamed like a demon" fits him perfectly. Btw, this is one of the rare bands that their first song release hit big and for about 20 years, they stayed big.

Just want to say, I love your reaction, not into Hip Hop. I am kinda disappointed that you haven't responded to two of my request of Linkin Park, Given Up the live 2007 performance, that 17 sec scream is lengendary by Chester R.I.P, His transitions from screaming to singing is amazing, there isn't another artest who can match that. Also the Linkin Park and Jay-Z 99 Problems/Points of Authority is Fire 🔥. The Scream Chester ended with even had Jay-Z looking like WTF, Linkin Park was Rap, Rock and all real issues. Chester was just a man who saved myself, His lyrics were put words to how I felt and could never voice. To believe and amazing his talent, Qwerty live performance proves his vocals.

It makes me emotional. I was a goth outcast and dealt with a lot of bullshit at home and from LPs first album they kept me alive. When people would bully and tease me I would sing their music in my head to try to drown out what they were saying and doing. I didn’t kill myself because I knew if I did I’d miss their music. When I heard Chester who’s music kept me alive took his own life I cried so hard. Seeing his face and hearing his music is so bittersweet for me and still years later chokes me up. I wish be could’ve pulled through. Depression and mental illness isn’t a joke. If y’all have mental illness please do not feel ashamed to get help. You owe it to nobody but yourself. Sending love to you all. ❤

I was originally from Oakland CA one of the worst cities to grow up in back in the 90’s and 2000’s but was moved by my mom to a small town up in the mountains in 2001 . I was the smart jock that had problems at home and tried to be friends with everyone. I protected lots of kids like you from bullies during those times, I’m still friends with many of them to this day in our thirties. The crazy part is I’ve only recently told them what I was going through in a poor single parent home when they first met me. You never know what people are going through so it’s always worth it to reach out a helping hand just incase

I watched some stuff recently about what happened to him as a kid. He was SAed by and older boy when he was young. And it occurred for years. He then got into drugs, etc. I woke assume to forget and cope. I think that's what caused his depression. Now, I'm only assuming this is the truth, but I can't say my source is necessarily credible, but I think he's spoken about it in interviews. This is why we need to protect our children! Childhood trauma can mess up the rest of their lives!

I am always surprised by people who listen to rap who say they don't listen to rock/punk/metal. And vice versa. Where I grew up, we all congealed. Sure our styles were different, but our experiences were similar. The reason we found the subculture we found is the same too, acceptance. For me, growing up in the 90s and 2000s I wss a teen, hip hop and alternative music have always been a cross pollination of culture, ideas and shared experiences. I think the ideals of the two separate paths merge really well. We go to parties full of thugs and punks, emos and gangstas and you wouldn't know what would come on next. One moment it's the goat, Andre 3000, next it was the other goat My Chemical Romance. Some Lil Wayne, LP, System of a Down, Jay Z. It didn't matter to uss. We're we brothers and sisters. European decent, Maori decent (I'm from NZ), it didn't matter.

The earliest track of when rap and rock were combined was Walk This Way by Aerosmith and RUN DMC. Also, during the late 80's/early 90's there was a track recorded by Onyx featuring Biohazard that has been for the most part forgotten during the last 32 years. Linkin Park definitely took the rap/metal genre to a whole different level starting with Crawling.

Chester was a blessing to his fans, especially those of us who have been around since when they came out. To say the least we where shocked and yet not surprised, because he was always open and honest and vocal with us about his depression, which is why we felt so connected to him, which made it even more heartbreaking when he actually did it, because the last concert that they gave most of us go back to that concert and realize that was his goodbye to us. And he was able to bring us out of those dark days through his openness and lyrics. Chester is hands-down, a legend and will ever be missed. Stumbled upon your channel...I found it chaos, not something I'd revisit...BUT I'm super proud if y'all for having open minds and hearts to check LP out...they put out amazing music. In case any of you read your comments, thought I'd let you know that Chester had an extremely abusive (in every way) childhood, and struggled with depression his whole life. His lyrics reflect his hardships. He had success, wralth, a beautiful family...and never believed he deserved any of it. He was a goofy, easy going guy, and is dearly missed. There is a group of therapists (shrinks) in CA that have developed and are using, a program based on LP music/Chester's lyrics, to help ppl explain how they're feeling to the therapist, loved ones, friends. Wildly successful. Since May was Mental Health Awareness month, and y'all just discovered this band... I challenge all of y'all to reach out to someone you haven't spoken to in a minute...check on how they're doing...*listen* or at least offer to, if they are tangled up in some mental health issues. Exercise empathy. Kindness is totally free, don't be stingy with it, boys! And thanks again for your reaction!
