He is trained in opera, and it shows. This is SO special to me because my dad passed when I was young and I played this at his funeral. Then.... fast forward many years. My husband, without me knowing, practiced singing this and sung it for me at Karaoke on my b-day..... I lost it and so did everyone else once they knew the story.

Pronounced queens-rike. Also, it is a band, not an individual. I like your breakdown. Lucid dreaming is a real thing. It's when you have the ability to change and control parts of your dream life. I have never been able to do that, but my sister could stop her dream in the middle and change it if she didn't like how things were going. Queensryche usually is more "progressive metal" but this is one of their biggest hits. I think it's one of the most beautiful songs ever written and not enough reactors are aware, so thank you for doing this!

Lucid dreaming is really just being aware that you are dreaming. It's unusual because it involves different parts of the brain that usually don't communicate in that way. Nevertheless, directed dreaming, what you Sister is doing, is a skill that can be learned. It just takes practice.

@@b1blancer1 I have heard that, but mostly my dream life is nonexistent, so I don't worry too much about it. My sister always had nightmares so in a way, I suppose it was self preservation for her.

@@dipsydoodle7988 Some people suffer from debilitating nightmares to the point they're afraid to fall asleep at all. Directed dreaming provides a way to take control of the dream and, like your sister does, either stop it or take it in a new direction. The song actually lays out the first steps. "Visualize you dream." - Think about what you want to dream about tonight. Visualize it. "Record it in the present tense." - Write it down. "Put it into a permanent form." - Right before you go to bed, read what you wrote. And read it again. And read it again. Memorize it. If you keep at it, you can eventually start influencing what you dream about. Fully directed dreaming is a bit of a different animal, but it can also be learned. I've had maybe four times I can remember when I was dreaming and been aware I was dreaming.

One of the all time great songs sung by a master vocalist along with virtuoso musicians. Doesn't get any better even after 30 years. Oddly enough it took all this time for people to recognize how great this song really is.

This song came out when I was in high school and it was always was one of my favorites. The band was one of the popular glam metal bands at the time and I was surprised how good they really were, kinda like Warrant & White Lion with the leads having beautiful voices. You should definitely react to Warrant’s- I Saw Red and also to White Lion’s- When the Children Cry. They are both beautiful and will definitely touch your heart. Maybe also Scorpions- Send Me an Angel.

Actually the song is about lucid dreaming which was a big thing in the 80s, particularly if you were in any type of counseling, therapy, meditation, etc. I remember the counselors/psychologist at the time really wanted people to learn how to do this . . . I think with the hope that it would help move therapy along . . . help people get better faster, have more control and be more aware during their waking lives. Read up on psychophysiologist Stephen LaBerge who really lead the way in the 80s as he taught colleagues at Stanford University and others how to do lucid dreaming. It's a fascinating subject that seemed to disappear for a time but I'm starting to see more studies and information on it in the last few years. I really wanted to be able to do lucid dreaming but was never successful at it. I think it would have helped the nightmares I've suffered from in my adult life.
