My dad worked at a very tiny private college in the early to mid 1970's. They had a pair of streakers run across campus on evening. One of them was easily identified, as he was the only African-American student at the time, the other one tripped and face planted on the sidewalk, he was identified when he went to the nurse the next day to get rug burn ointment for his whole body.

It's worth mentioning back in the day these tracks were audio-only (unless we were watching a live or televised performance), so we were left to our own devices to imagine the events taking place during the songs. Ray Stevens is a gold mine of musical comedy, and it's a valid observation that some of the jokes in his work wouldn't fly in this day and age. Ray is also an accomplished gospel and country singer, and his work in those genres is also top-notch.

You see how much fun us older peeps had? Now you know why many of us don't understand why today's music has to be so suggestive, lude, crude, etc...to enjoy. If you're in Nashville at any time before December, go see his live show. This is the last year He's doing regularly scheduled shows there.

I was a sophomore at TCU in Ft Worth, living in an all girl's dorm when ABC news filmed the streaking phenomena as around midnight, a bunch of guys were streaking between our dorm and another behind it. Peter Jennings covered in his national newscast. It was a great deal of fun to witness! Made some unusual memories! 💜

Streaking was big for a while for some reason. I think it started in the 60s but people were still doing it well into the 90s. Usually at sporting events. Some naked person would just suddenly run out onto the field & zig zag around trying to avoid the posse of arena security guards chasing them (who probably had no desire to touch a naked stranger). And it would usually stop game play for a few minutes until security finally cornered & carried them off the field. Both men & women would do it.

You can still see it in Europe especially during the big championship games. I saw one last week from a soccer match. They guy was doing pretty good dodging security but he got too close to a player and the guy just body slammed him to the turf and then went back to doing what he was before he was interrupted.

Ray's been around since the '50s. He was noted for doing what was known as novelty tracks, which were more or less comedy songs. His first single to crack the top ten was Ahab the Arab. His best songs in my opinion were Gitarzan, Bagpipes - That's My Bag, Along Came Jones (a remake of an old Coaster's song), and Bridget the Midget. Ray also had some hits with 'serious' songs including Mr Businessman, Misty and the number 1 song Everything is Beautiful.

Our school principal warned the whole school that Nobody(pun not intended) had better get the bright idea to try it during graduation or else!! Our football quarterback didn't listen, lol! He already had a scholarship lined up for USC and was the school golden boy, so I guess he felt fairly safe from the principal's vague threat!😄 And let me tell you, he had reason to be "proud as he can be of his anatomy", and all of us girls clapped as he streaked by!😉😃😄💫

Best reaction EVER to a streaker was given by actor David Niven while hosting the Academy Awards. PRICELESS!
