The other brother was Bobby Hatfield. He was a countertenor. He had an incredible range. He could sing from baritone through tenor and up to what could only be called high soprano. That kind of talent isn't learned, it's God-given. I always admired Bill Medley for his vocal control and full-bodied voice. It was a perfect fit.

In terms of range Bobby’s is a countertenor and can flip from a bass register to tenor and imediatly to countertenor… efortless !! He smoothly glide throug the notes , ascending and droping efortless. Noone matches him. Note that He never had vocal lessons, He is a natural voice controler

Bobby Hatfield had a four or five octave range. Also listen to “Soul & Inspiration”, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” on the Ed Sullivan Show. Listen to Bobby’s soul in “Summertime” and Bill’s soul in “I Just Want to Make Love to you”. I think their different voices compliment each other, so I can’t really choose who is better.

Bobby Hatfield died in 2003, due to heart failure brought on by cocaine use. He had a long history of drug abuse problems. But several months before his death, Hatfield and Bill Medley, as The Righteous Brothers, were inducted in person into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The induction footage is available for viewing here on KZitem.
