The stabbing of the two guys in the wheelchairs was their version of jumping in the new guys.. The original members have literally bled for the music and they needed to bleed for them to prove that they belonged.. of course it wasn't real.. but no one told them that during the filming. VMan has talked about seeing them all standing there with knives while they were tied up in the chairs unable to move and they all came after them and how terrifying it was until they started attacking and he felt the knives give way and it clicked in his head that they weren't actually trying to kill him, it was just a video.. still he might've bled a little bit because Clown, just not as much as the video makes it out. But then Clown is the guy that headbutted a sheetrock wall right before going on stage and split his forehead open and went on stage with it bleeding so.. he's not the most stable person. Oh and btw, Clown's the one that came up with this video and directed it.. he's the one that hung himself and lit himself on fire at the end. The other symbolism in the imagery is also them killing off their old masks too, on top of facing their fears.

I really tried to get into Mushroomhead, I feel the reason they aren't as huge as slipknot was solely on the singer(s). The band itself was made up of great musicians, the singers throughout their lineup were just nails on a chalkboard for me. Their vocals ruined the band's overall sound in my opinion. I realize they are renowned but no where on the scale of Slipknot's notoriety.

This was super powerful when I had first seen it, it hasnt lessened at all for me. This album was the first album to not have paul and Joey with them anymore. It broke my heart , RIP to them, this album was so emotional and helped me move on and digest a death of my closest childhood friend at the same time when it came out. I felt they had to kill their old selves, albeit in their own personal graphic carnage inducing selves, in order for them to move on from that point. New masks, new people moving on from the anguish and grief of what they all experienced. It is so crazy to watch, but from how I perceive it, it really makes me choke back tears thinking about that time. If you ever see this, could I suggest the song "goodbye" from these guys? It's from the grey chapter, same album the Devil in I is from, it's a song that I believe you could appreciate. Sending many many thank yous from Sacramento california 🖤💜🖤💜

We go to extreme lengths to get the perfect tone out of our bass drums. That perfect *click* where it lasts less than like half a second and cuts off perfectly. Cut holes in the skin, fill the drum will pillows and blankets. All the tricks. By Slipknot? Id go with either Duality (absolute legendary classic Slipknot track) or The Blister Exists.

allow me to provide some context, The Devil In I is about the band killing a part of themselves, specifically the part of them that was abusing drugs and consuming excess amounts of booze. they sobered up after one of their bandmates died of an overdose, which they named the album after said bandmate, calling it The Grey Chapter. from here the band would learn to confront their demons and move on past the death of their friend, proving yet again that Life comes after Death.

Did you notice that most band members commit suicide in this video, except the bass player and the drummer. They get killed by all the other band members. Joey Jordison, former drummer of Slipknot, left the band in 2013 prior to the release of the album in 2014 (unfortunately he died in 2021). Paul Gray the original bass player died in 2010. That's why the Album which features this song is called "5: The Gray Chapter".

This is a song that reflects them killing their former selves and things they feared (i.e. a fear of birds...and then crows peck your eyes out). Often the masks shown are those that the members wore previously (they change and update their masks constantly); and those were the versions of themselves they killed. I believe it was a catharsis following the death Paul Gray, a member of the band that was really a cornerstone and support to them all and the band at large.
