I think there can hardly be anything nicer for a musician than being able to work with a singer like Corinne Drewery. She has the perfect intonation and phrasing for sophisti-pop.

I haven't heard Swing Out Sister since the late 1980s, when a girl I was dating was into them. You can tell this was the late 80s by the synths. Good stuff. They were Synth Pop with a just a hint of jazz, if memory serves. Their lead singer is very good.

Glad you could rediscover them today with me! Late 80s keyboard moods with a gorgeous female voice? YES please...😊

Thumbs up from me for reacting to a SOS song other than Breakout. They are one of my favorites from back then that I still listen to today. There second album, Kaleidoscope World, really cemented my love for them.

You’ll find that It’s Better To Travel (their debut) was the most synthesizer-oriented album in their catalog, very much a product of its time. But as they progressed, their sound and production became ever more varied, with a full live band, horn sections, or a full orchestra, in addition to synths, depending on what was needed for each track. Their 1989 follow-up Kaleidoscope World was their most heavily orchestrated album, as you’ve sampled with “Forever Blue”. You’re really in for a treat with this act…

You were right my friend, I would not have thought of Swing Out Sister! I think “After Hours” is such an amazing song, I’m glad you liked it as well. Corinne just has one of those voices that draws you in. “Theme” is an incredible instrumental, I liked your reaction to it, and glad you regarded it so strongly. For their next turn, I highly recommend the song “Am I Still The Same Girl?”…..it’s a great track. 😊

Yes, thankfully they were one of a select few that I grabbed from my "New Artist Week" list from a few months ago to return. Pretty safe to say after this that they will be on permanent rotation 🙂 Excellent music. Added your sugg to my list. Let's see what song I come up with tomorrow!
