Beastie Boys always liked to goof around and have fun. They never took each other seriously. However they tried their best at making their fans and new fans smile. They made it possible that rap and rock can coexist in the same song...

A very good amusing reaction 🎪! Yes, they're in the forest 🌲. I see 👁👁 you have reacted to the Beastie (pronounced Bee-Stee) Boys before: Body Movin', You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party and Three MC's And One DJ. So What’Cha Want was released the second single from the from the Beastie Boys' 1992 album: Check Your Head. It was written by the Beastie Boys. It was produced by the Beastie Boys and Mario Caldato Jr. It reached #18 on the Rap chart and #22 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. It sampled: Give It Up Or Turn It Loose by Dick Hyman (1969), Just Rhymin' With Biz by Big Daddy Kane ft Biz Markie (1987), I've Been Watching You by Southside Movement (1975) and Drunken Praying Mantis Style by Beastie Boys ft Biz Markie (1992). The music video was directed by MCA and featured DJ Hurricane and Money Mark. It was one of the first music videos to feature slow motion action while the artists' lips remained in sync with the sound track, an effect that would later become a mainstay of music videos. The sky has a photo negative effect which was created by visualist Ash Beck, a direct allusion to the werewolf point-of-view in 1981 horror film: Wolfen. Similarly, the infrared style incorporated during the band cutaways are a homage to the hunter vision in the 1987 film: Predator. The song is featured in the 2008 video game 🎮: Rock Band 2. The song is featured in some films including 📽: Vacation Friends (2021), Beastie Boys Story (2020), War Dogs (2016), A Girls Night Out (2009), Before The Rain (1994) and more. The song is featured in some TV shows including 📺: Get Shorty ("Should Not Throw Stones" - 2019), Fresh Off The Boat ("Nerd Watching" - 2019), Brooklyn Nine-Nine ("The 9-8" - 2016) and more. Lyrics 🗒: Well, just plug me in just like I was Eddie Harris You're eating crazy cheese like you would think I'm from Paris You know I get fly, you think I get high You know that I'm gone and I'm-a tell you all why So tell me who are you dissing, maybe I'm missing The reason that you're smilin' or wildin', so listen In my head, I just want to take 'em down Imagination set loose and I'm gonna shake 'em down Let it flow like a mud-slide When I get on, I like to ride and glide I've got depth of perception in my text, y'all I get props at my mention cause I vex, y'all So, so what'cha, what'cha, what'cha want? (what'cha want?) I get so funny with my money that you flaunt I said, "Where'd you get your information from" huh? You think that you can front when revelation comes? (Yeah, you can't front on that) Well they call me Mike D, the ever-loving man I'm like Spoonie Gee, well I'm the metropolitician (yeah-yeah-yeah) You scream and you holler 'bout my Chevy Impala But the sweat is getting wet around the ring around your collar But like a dream I'm flowing without no stopping Sweeter than a cherry pie with Reddi-wip topping From mic to mic, kickin' it wall to wall Well, I'll be calling out to people like a casting call Ah, well, it's wack when you're jacked in the back of my ride With your know, with your flow, when you're out getting by Believe me, what you see is what you get And you see me, I'm comin' off as you can bet Well I think I'm losing my mind, this time This time I'm losing my mind, that's right Said I think I'm losing my mind, this time This time, I'm losing my mind But little do you know about something that I talk about I'm tired of driving, it's due time that I walkabout But in the meantime, I'm wise to the demise I've got eyes in the back of my head so I realize Well, I'm Dr. Spock, I'm here to rock, y'all I want you off the wall, if you're playing the wall I said what'cha, what'cha, what'cha want? (what'cha want?) I said what'cha, what'cha, what'cha want? (what'cha want?) Y'all suckers write me checks and then they bounce So I reach into my pocket for the fresh amount See, I'm the long-leaner, Vincent the Cleaner I'm the illest motherfucker from here to Gardena Well, I'm as cool as a cucumber in a bowl of hot sauce You've got the rhyme and reason, but got no cause But if you're hot to trot, you think you're slicker than grease I've got news for you crews, you'll be sucking like a leech So what'cha, what'cha, what'cha want? (what'cha want?) So what'cha, what'cha, what'cha want? (what'cha want?) I said, what'cha, what'cha, what'cha want? (what'cha want?) I said, what'cha, what'cha, what'cha want? (what'cha want?) Beastie Boys Info 📰: The Beastie Boys are a Hip-Hop group from New York City, formed in 1978. The group was composed of Michael "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "MCA" Yauch and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz. Beastie Boys were formed out of members of experimental hardcore punk band: The Young Aborigines, in 1978, with Michael "Mike D" Diamond as vocalist, Jeremy Shatan on bass guitar, John Berry on guitar, and Kate Schellenbach on drums. When Jeremy Shatan left the band in 1981, Adam "MCA" Yauch replaced him on bass and the band changed their name to Beastie Boys after John Berry came up with the name. John Berry left the group shortly thereafter and was replaced by Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz. They released eight studio albums, four compilation albums, five video albums, seven extended plays, 40 singles and 44 music videos. The Beastie Boys' first DJ was DJ Double R aka Rick Rubin (1984-86), who was the founder of Def Jams Records along with Russell Simmons. The group's second DJ was Dr Dre (1986) better known as the co-host of the popular 1980s-1990s MTV show: Yo! MTV Raps. DJ Hurricane was the group's live performance DJ from 1986-1997. Mix Master Mike was the group's live performance DJ from 1998-2012. After achieving local success with the 1983 comedy Hip-Hop single: "Cooky Puss", Beastie Boys made a full transition to Hip-Hop, and Kate Schellenbach left the group. They toured with Madonna in 1985 and a year later released their debut album: Licensed To Ill (1986), the first rap record to top the Billboard 200 chart. Their second album: Paul's Boutique (1989), composed almost entirely of samples, was a commercial failure, but later received critical acclaim. The albums: Check Your Head (1992) and Ill Communication (1994), found mainstream success, followed by the albums: Hello Nasty (1998), To The 5 Boroughs (2004), The Mix-Up (2007) and Hot Sauce Committee Part Two (2011). Beastie Boys have sold 20 million records in the United States and had seven Platinum-selling albums from 1986 to 2004. They are the biggest-selling rap group since Billboard began recording sales in 1991. The group has won three Grammy Awards: Intergalactic- Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group (1999), Hello Nasty- Best Alternative Music Album (1999) and The Mix Up- Best Contemporary Instrumental Album (2008), out of ten total nominations. They have also won four MTV Video Music awards, one MTV Europe Music award and two MTV Japan Music awards. In 2012, they became the third rap group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In the same year, Adam "MCA" Yauch passed away from cancer and the Beastie Boys disbanded. Michael "Mike D" Diamond said that the band will never again make new music or tour again without their late bandmate. Their last live performance was on June 12th, 2009, at the Bonnaroo Festiva in Manchester, Tennessee. Adam "MCA" Yauch's will forbids the use of Beastie Boys music in advertisements. In June 2014, Beastie Boys won a lawsuit against Monster Energy for using their music in a commercial without permission. They were awarded $1.7 million in damages and $668,000 for legal fees. In October 2018, Michael "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz released a memoir, Beastie Boys Book, recounting events throughout the group's history. The book was adapted into a documentary in April 2020, titled: Beastie Boys Story, directed by Spike Jonze and premiered on Apple TV+. The book and documentary were also complemented by the compilation album: Beastie Boys Music, released in October 2020. The remaining members, Michael "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz, have released several retrospective works, including a book, a documentary, a career-spanning compilation album, as well as remaining active in many philanthropic interests. Beastie Boys have a website: BeastieBoys dot com with an active fan forum, as well as IG, Twitter and Tik Tok sites. The Beastie Boys no longer tour since the passing of MCA in 2012 but they still perform, although very rarely, at special events. Tibetan Freedom Concert 🏟: In 1994, Adam "MCA" Yauch and activist Erin Potts organized the "Tibetan Freedom Concert" in order to raise awareness of humans rights abuses by the Chinese government on the Tibetan people. Adam "MCA" Yauch became aware of this situation after hiking in Nepal and speaking with Tibetan refugees. The events became annual, and shortly after went international with acts such including: Live, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe of R.E.M., Rage Against The Machine, The Smashing Pumpkins, U2 and more. *****CONTINUE BELOW****

Legacy 🛡: The Beastie Boys are considered very influential in both the Hip-Hop and Rock music scenes, with artists such as Eminem, Rage Against The Machine, Hed PE, Limp Bizkit, Sublime and Blur citing them as an influence. Beastie Boys have had four albums reach the top of the Billboard album charts (Licensed To Ill, Ill Communication, Hello Nasty and To The 5 Boroughs) since 1986. In the November 2004 issue, Rolling Stone named the Beastie Boy's song: "Sabotage", the 475th song on their 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list. In their April 2005 issue, Rolling Stone ranked them number 77 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. VH1 ranked them number 89 on their list of their 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. On May 3, 2013, a ceremony was held to rename the Palmetto Playground in Brooklyn Heights to Adam Yauch Park. In 2020, Spin Magazine ranked Beastie Boys as the 12th most influential artist of the previous 35 years. In 2022, the New York City Council voted to rename the intersection of Ludlow and Rivington streets in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, the location of the Paul’s Boutique album cover, “Beastie Boys Square”. The square was renamed on September 9, 2023, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop. Group Members Who Passed Away 🙏: 1. Adam "MCA" Yauch (August 5, 1964 - May 4, 2012) In July 2009, MCA was diagnosed with a cancerous parotid gland and lymph node. He underwent surgery and radiation therapy, delaying the release of the group's album: Hot Sauce Committee Pt 1, until 2011 (when it was renamed to Hot Sauce Committee Part Two) and canceling the trio's planned tour. MCA was unable to appear in music videos for the album. He became a vegan on the recommendation of his Tibetan doctors. At the time, MCA described the cancer as "very treatable". MCA passed away in New York City, at age 47, on May 4, 2012. His funeral and burial details are private. 2. John Berry (May 31, 1963 - May 19, 2016) Founding Beastie Boys guitarist John Berry passed away at a hospice in Danvers, Massachusetts, on May 19, 2016, at the aged of 52, as a result of frontotemporal dementia, following several years of ill health. He was credited with naming the band Beastie Boys and played guitar on the first EP: Polly Wog Stew, in 1982. The first Beastie Boys show took place at John Berry's loft. No information on his funeral or burial are available. There are two good "follow up" songs to this one. One is "E-Pro" by Beck, where he samples the same beat. The other is "So What?" by Far East Movement, which is a modern take on the original. (Warning, the Far East Movement video is a little risque.)

"At the Helm" by Hieroglyphics with Del the Funky Homosapien same beat but they sampled it and Beasties are playing it. The original is by Southside Movement "I've Been Watching You (1975)" not the 1973 version.
