This song was around the time of the Civil Rights Movement. A cry for people to love one another and be prepared for the coming of the Lord.

It's the "Train to Salvation," in Jesus Christ. What a great old song. It's been covered by hundreds, if not thousands of artists in R&B, Country, and Pop music genres. Jesus loves them all! God Bless

People Get Ready is a timeless classic-Jordan being a metaphor for Heaven. The train and key to climb aboard without a ticket is to have Faith in the Lord to guide you to Heaven as Jesus is the only Way. People need to get ready as He will return someday soon!

The Impressions launched the solo careers of “The Ice Man” Jerry Butler and Curtis Mayfield. Mr. Mayfield is probably more responsible than anyone for what became known as “Message Music” in the 1970’s. Bob Marley paraphrased this song in his song “One Love”.

The Impressions were an American doo-wop, gospel, soul & R&B group formed in 1958. The line up included Jerry Butler & Curtis Mayfield who ended up having great solo careers. "People Get Ready" was their biggest hit but some of their other hits were "For Your Precious Love", "Come Back My Love", "Gypsy Woman", "It's All Right", "Keep On Pushing" etc.
