THAT ENDING 1 song is LITERALLY the most famous thing about this anime, not because of how good it is (although it is good) but because when paired with watching the anime, the song gains new meaning. So its one of those songs you have to listen to WITH context to the show itself. otherwise, the song is just a good song.

Violet Evergarden is a great anime. A spoiler free clarification, she writes letters for people who are illiterate or otherwise cannot write. So part of the plot is about her story, but a lot is actually her encountering these other people and writing things for them which means we get all these stories about the different people she meets. It ranges from heartwarming to bittersweet and is beautifully animated.

Where people come to a type Writer and express their emotion and the writer has to understand it and write a letter. After becoming a writer the girl goes through several emotions while learning to write and what people do when things happen. At the end when she expressed her emotions. It will 100% tear you up.

Violet Evergarden is such a good anime! It's about an orphan girl who was raised as an emotionless soldier during a major war. During the war, she lost her arms and was later given prosthetic limbs. The series follows her from right after the war as she learns how to have emotions and about what it means to love. She takes up a job as an auto memories doll, which is someone who writes letters for those who wish to send them, but can't read or write. If I'm not mistaken, it takes place in a fictional country that is essentially France, right before the Eifel Tower was built. If/when you watch this, just know that you will have to watch the movies after the main series, as they are 100% required to complete the story.

The story follows this girl called Violet, who fought and survived the war, but losing her superior and both her arms. Now, she tries to figure out what the words "I love you" truly mean, since those were the parting words of her superior. Its a story about grief and also purpose.

"Why does this always get recommended?" Personally speaking, I cannot stress enough how much I would recommend this show to anyone as an entry-level to mid-phase anime. I've always been told by acquaintances and peers that I have little to no respect and sense of value towards emotions (e.g: I once scolded a school groupmate going through a rough break-up with her boyfriend after she did nothing to help in an important project.) and this show made me realize that it ain't so bad to empathize with others and slow down from the daily grind to enjoy life. 10/10 all around. From art quality, OST, voice work and the sheer effort to make the world alive (they literally have a unique language and numerical system) this is a show that deserves every ounce of praise and support given by its fans.

Without spoiling anything (all of this stuff is given to us in the first episode and in the show’s description), Violet Evergarden is about a young girl who grew up in a war, and is very broken by it. Now that the war is over, she gets a job as what is essentially a typewriter for people who are illiterate, and she slowly starts to learn emotions vicariously through others. It’s like watching someone go through therapy, and it’s genuinely one of the most heart wrenching shows I’ve ever watched (in general! Not just in the world of anime). It’s one of my personal favorites ^-^

"Anime that will make you cry-" No, good sir, Violet Evergarden does not simply make people cry. It DESTROYS them, and then rebuilds them stronger and wiser. I would watch the hell out of you watching this show.

The anime "What do you do at the end of the world? Are you busy? Will you save us?" is another recommendation from me. I can't move on for a month.

basically, its a history about a soldier girl who lost both her arms in war, after the war ended, they gave her robotic prostetics and made her work writing letters for people who dont know how to write, or dont know how to express their fellings, because she was too emotionless and thought that would give her a better life, them shows how she interacts with her clients and find her emotions

This is actually the only recent anime I compare with Clannad on how sad it is like holy shit. I haven't teared as hard at an anime since watching Clannad and then Violet Evergarden came out like fucking Mike Tyson just swinging on my ass.

U need to check out OST's for Madoka Magica made by Yuki Kajiura; like "Sis Puella Magica!" and "Decretum". As for other ones not by her - "Absolute Configuration" and "I was Waiting for this Moment"

You will understand when you watch it. Until you do that, you just won't be able to understand. The anime...it makes you cry like a baby, but in a good way. So if you plan to watch it, I can only recommend one thing - enjoy the ride.

Your comment about the singer reaching notes hard for humans to hit reminded me you still need to discover Asu from Sinsekai and Isekaijoucho from Kamitsubaki

I'm choked up just hearing the music. Show is basically a child soldier who knew nothing but war integrating into normal life as a letter writer after the war is over while trying to decipher the meaning of her commander's final words.

@3:15 not really happy bouncy but that's pretty much Hyouka from the same studio as Violet Evergarden. I would say it's a controversial anime in the sense that a lot of people find it boring but if you're into cinematography, and all those visual art stuff, it's a hidden gem. One of those works, where the detail is so meticulous that you will keep loving it the more you rewatch it. Personally, my all time favorite. And there's a whole episode breakdown playlist made by a KZitemr named, Replay Value which is definitely worth checking out after completing Hyouka. Makes you realize about so many things you didn't notice in the anime, you'll eventually cherish it.

Violet Evergarden is a beatifully animated anime. It is consistently emotional and atmospheric. It is definitely a good anime for anyone in this world. You definitely won't miss if you would watch it. Very few anime made me cry, and this is not one of them. It's whole atmosphere is very beautiful and tragic at the same time and because of it emotional moments don't contrast very much with the rest of the show. But maybe I was just too young to understand and apprecite the whole tragedy shown when I watched it and that's why I didn't cry? But I'll definitely rewatch it on this channel😉

(my favourite comedy anime) Sorry for the long list. These are series that I really enjoyed. Yes! It will make you cry, it's a series where a single episode even people tend to acclaim could be it's own one off alone and be just as amazing. As someone who's an endearing fan of the studio that did the production for the anime of this series, Kyoto Animation (KyoAni), they always pick up and publish some of the best romantic drama's out there! They're also the studio that did production on 'A Silent Voice', they're also well known for other popular series' production, such as; K- on!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Clannad and so on!
