Time to dive into his discography! Michael Jackson loved Al's work so much he provided anything he wanted to recreate the videos. From the sets, props, choreography, whatever he could. He does have his own original tracks, but got famous doing parodies. Artists would say that when he does a parody of your song, you've "made it".

I went to a Weird Al concert the first time he came to Ireland. It was incredible. He was 60 years old at the time but he was jumping around the stage for almost 3 hours, doing kicks over his head, and changing costumes so many times, I lost count. From what I have read, Michael Jackson was a fan of Weird Al, and actually helped in parts of the production & choreography, and let him film at the same spot that Bad was filmed!!! Weird Al is absolutely brilliant. It is actually hard to do good parody, and his is spot on! You asked if he only did parodies? He obviously does one-to-one parodies, like you just watched, but he also does stylistic parodies (re: Dare to Be Stupid in the style of Devo), and with every album he would put together a polka mashup (he plays accordion) of several current pop hits. But, yes, he also writes his own original stuff. Hard to recommend a specific song, just hit up his whole catalog! But if you want to hear the man's rap chops, check out Hardware Store.

I scrolled quite a bit through the comments and I wanted to add the one I first heard. "Another One Rides the Bus" a parody of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust'. It's one of the first ones he ever did. That one is almost pure accordion with a few bells and whistles. I heard it on Dr. Demento's show way back in the late 70s, early 80s. Then I heard My Bologna and was hooked. I have a lot of his music on CDs, my kids were in grade school at the time and thought they were really funny. We went and saw him in concert and had a blast! Edit to add: He always asked permission from the artists to do a parody. Madonna was the only one to ask him to do one of her songs, and Prince was the only artist that very firmly and politely told him no. There was a misunderstanding with Coolio's Gangsta Paradise. Al had approached his manager, who told him Coolio would probably be okay with it, except the manager didn't actually ask Coolio. Al thought it was fine, released "Amish Paradise" and Coolio almost lost it. They have since reconciled.

He does basically 3 types of songs: -Direct parody: Like this song, it's a rewriting of an existing song to have humorous lyrics. -Pastiche or style parody: It's an original humorous song done in the style of a particular band or artist, but not a direct parody of one of their actual songs. One of my favorites he does of this kind is the song Bob, a style parody of Bob Dylan. Another great one is Genius In France, a style parody of Frank Zappa on which Frank's son plays the guitar part. -Polka medley: This just takes bits and pieces of popular rock/pop song lyrics and puts them together over polka music. Most people tend to either love these ones or hate them, personally I love them.

He describes all the things he would rather do than to spend one more minute with this woman. They include things like getting 100,000 paper cuts on his face, sticking his nostrils together with Crazy Glue, diving into a pool filled with double-edged razor blades and cleaning all the bathrooms in Grand Central Station with his tongue. Most of Weird Al originals are deeper cuts, but at least a couple (One More Minute, Trapped in the Drive Through) have their own videos. It doesn't get reacted to as much, though.

His songs fit into three categories: parodies, style parodies, polka medleys and originals. The parodies are what he's known more for where he's taken a specific song and made new lyrics for it. Style parodies aren't parodies of specific songs. They just parody the style of an artist or band. The polka medleys take a series of songs, put them all together and play them as a polka. And originals don't parody anything or use other people's music.
@jeremygeorgia4943

He does have a couple of albums, but his parodies are what made him famous. He is an accomplished accordion player, and he has an album (or two? more?) that have polka style covers of some famous songs. He has original work as well. A lot of his work is comedic or ironic in some way. If you aren't familiar with Michael Jackson's early work, I'd recommend refreshing yourself on "Beat It", and then watching "Eat it". One interesting experiment you might try, is to speed up his songs, until the pitch matches the original. It's amazing how close his recreation/covers are.
