Prince was our Mozart, he mastered over 14 instruments by age 17, he could dance, sing any note, rap, he wrote, arranged, performed ALL his music, including wrote hits for other artists, he has covered almost every genre, Metal, Punk rock, hip hop, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, blues, country, ambience, classical, techno, house, instrumental, meditation. The Multi-Genre God. He could play anything, and your favorite artists have been deeply influenced by him. Corey Taylor, Whitney Houston, Steve Vai, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lil uzi vert, H.E.R. , Paul Mccartney, all worship Prince to just name a few. Prince recorded his first 2 albums at 16 all by himself, all instruments, lyrics, arrangement, composition & vocals were all by him. He was such a prodigy, that music executives wanted proof, they would fly across country just to see if he could really play all instruments, because it was so unheard of. Prince has over 50 official released albums and when he passed, they found over 10 thousand unreleased Prince music in his vault. He then came into the business and was the FIRST to fight for artists rights, and he WON. He would write "slave" on his cheek and go to meetings protesting against the industry. Prince was also one of the first artists to sell his music on the internet. You are talking about the most talented artist we will ever see.

@zazagirl3373 He wasn’t 16 when he did his first albums. He was 19 and 20. Nonetheless he was still a genius and prodigy. He started playing in local bands in junior high. He could also play several instruments very well by then too. Prince’s first instrument he learned was piano. His father was a jazz pianist.

Total metalhead and Minnesotan born and raised. I didn't get exposed to music like this much until about 1987. I was 10 years old and heard Prince all the time and liked the music but didn't/couldn't truly appreciate it because I was just a kid. Then metal came into my life and other music faded away for a while. Prince though, is on a completely different playing field when it comes to greatest MUSICIANS of all time. At least for modern music, no one comes close to the level of Prince. Period. It's not even a debate. In my extremely humble opinion...

Prince was a musical savant. On some of his earlier albums he played every instrument for each song and mixed it for the entire record. For this performance, Rolling Stones had just put out their top 100 guitarist of all time and left Prince off the list. Tom Petty invited Prince to play at this Rock n Roll HOF performance for George Harrison's induction, and this was Prince's way of giving the critics the middle finger.

If I could play like Prince, I'd leave the stage immediately after in a fancy strut, just like that, just like Prince did, if I could play like that. My work here is done, bye bitches. He killed it, so he yeeted that guitar up to heaven. I had a friend who saw Prince in concert, and he said that he played, I think it was the trombone, like he'd been playing it for decades. And afterwards he apologized and said that he'd only just picked up the trombone for the first time the weekend before. There will never be another Prince.

The story behind this solo somehow makes it even better. Which is hard because it's already the best fucking solo ever played. The month before, Rolling Stone released their list of the best guitarists of all time and left Prince off the list. He was asked to perform here and agreed as long as he got to play at least one solo. On the day, everyone came together to rehearse and Prince wasn't there. He was supposed to play all the solos for the song but during rehearsal, Marc Mann knocked it out of the park with his solo and everyone is super impressed. Then Prince shows up right before the show and everyone is freaking out because he doesn't get a chance to rehearse. Prince tells the producer to let Mann take the first solo and he'd handle the rest. Everyone on stage, including Dhani Harrison (son of George who this performance was to honor) was really tense that he didn't get a chance to play with them and Dhani asked Tom Petty if Prince was going to be able to handle it to which Tom said, "It's Prince. Don't worry." And then they walked on stage and the second Prince started playing the rest was history. Really laid it down to the audience (which included basically everyone from the magazine who had snubbed him) and then threw his guitar (possibly into outer space?!) and walked off and left the venue without saying a word to anyone. Guy was fuckin magic and there is no better guitar solo ever captured on film IMO.

These are all George Harrison's friends playing his Beatle-time song in tribute to George. Each of these people (except for a young George-look-alike son Dhani) were in exceptional bands in their own right, each were highly successful. George Harrison was part of the Beatles, called "The Quiet Beatle" became highly spiritual post-Beatles: and had such a great solo library of music. George died in 2001 from complications of lung cancer (they all smoked heavily back in the day), which was aggravated when an intruder broke into his home and stabbed him. The incident accelerated his cancer. After his death there was a tribute Concert For George organized by Eric Clapton, which most of these players were part of (except for Prince). The original guitar solo on this song (from the White Album 1968) was Eric Clapton.

Tom Petty is the Blonde guy who started the song out, the guy you liked the voice of is Jeff Lynne who is the lead singer of the band ELO "ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA" as good as all the other guys are at playing guitar, PRINCE STOLE THIS SHOW, and he never sang at all. PRINCE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITAR PLAYERS OF ALL TIME. Watch Prince at teh Super Bowl performance live. HE did it in the RAIN even though it started raining he still did the show. A true master artist. Prince - Live @ Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show 2007 kzitem.info/news/bejne/1m1oq3yvbGtpq2k

Prince was a very underrated guitarist. His concert was the loudest I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot of concerts.

Heart shared the same stage for Led Zeppelin's HOF induction. Never knew Prince played the guitar so well until this performance.

(Pauses after the first solo in awe) Me: Oh...you ain't seen shit, yet. 😂 You've got 60 years of talent on display, right here. I was as much a Prince fan as the average person, but this absolutely blew my head off.

What an on-stage lineup! Legends in their own right. I'm blown away how much Harrison's son looks like him (then again Julian Lennon looks exactly like his dad, so......)
