This information is so useful and needs to be promoted as soon as possible to more people who are preparing to travel to China, including those who have been to China but did not apply for a phone card, resulting in a poor experience.

"Do not travel on public holidays in China" That's just pure wisdom. If you can't avoid public hodidays due to a tight schedule, choose a less famous spot to visit. For example, don't visit the bund if you don't want to be in a crowd of 1 million people. Try the north Bund which is only 2 subway stations away. It would be a lot better, though still full of visitors.

Tianjin is my number one choice for favourite city, followed by Beijing and Guilin, although most cities are nice with good places to visit. Just one thing to avoid is the Beijing Jade Factory tour, in twenty years of travelling around China, that left a sour taste.

I found Tianjin to be less busy than other cities, thus more relaxing, also the western influence on the architecture made it seem different from any other city in I’ve visited. I also enjoyed visiting the Nanshi Cuisine Street, the Italian Bridge, Ancient Culture Street, and waking along the river, as well as seeing the sights in general.

@@Nicofilms It takes 30 to 40 minutes to reach Tianjin by high-speed rail from Beijing South Station. This is one of several mega cities in China with a population of over 10 million. In the early 20th century, it was a bustling city like Shanghai, with urban construction resembling Paris and London

We eat a lot of vegetation food and it really varies from place to place. There is always something though so I wouldn’t worry too much especially in big cities. There is a girl on IG called vegan in China and she shares lots of vegan food ideas so that might also really help give you some places.

As a Mongolian from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, I want to vote for the west. Qinghai Lake and Chaka in Qinghai, Urumqi, Kashgar, Yarkand, and Turpan in Xinjiang are all worth visiting, and you can also look for the so-called "concentration camps." . Tibet is not recommended because it requires an application.

It is very easy to get SIM card in China. Buy one and go to mobile shop to register. BUT!!! you can only have ONE SIM card by ONE provider!!!!!! I had SIM card and I didn't even register. So, I thought it is weird and I checked what name is on the system and it was some Chinese name. They are so funny. They registered some random dude on my SIM card. But the best thing is to travel from Hong Kong and get roaming SIM card. All Chinese do that to access internet without VPN. They have plans for mainland China, because everyone does it.
