The good old white twisty tail 1/8 - 1/4 oz is my #1 go to in that area. It just seems to outperform all my other lures. Fished that same area today with my son.

When I first started wading the fox 15 years ago that’s precisely what I used. 1/8oz ball head jig with a 3” Berkeley power grub. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of that setup 😂

Thanks! I’ve got one uploading now, should have it live some time tomorrow. I grew up fishing ponds and lakes and never had any luck on the fox as a kid. I was always told it had nothing but 3 eyed fish. I’ve definitely come to love fishing it

I enjoyed this video. I’m from the area and always wanted to fish that section. I should have my Lund rebuilt ready for summer.

Just north of that bridge where you were fishing is a giant and very shallow sand bar on the east side of the river that people like to go take their boats and raft up at on weekends in the summer. It's a giant party. Just have to watch when youre going through there though because it can get real shallow.

Sure is shallow. I found it the hard way. I saw a bass boat get semi stuck out on it later that day too

The area from the South Elgin Dam to Boy Scout Island is very productive. I’ve fished it several times. I’ve done well with plastic craws, square bills, and spinnerbaits. You just have to know where the boulders are.

Definitely is true for everybody of water. Things get easier once you know the spots. I spend a good chunk of the day throwing my normal squarebill, but there was a lot more vegetation than I’m use to

@@btmbass8558 There's more rock the further north you travel on this pool. After the 5 Islands area there are gravel wing dams before you hit the Stearns Road bridge.

I fish this stretch practically every sat/sun in my kayak. Usually get a couple…nothing spectacular but keeps me off the streets. 😜

Its been a while but even off the bank at Ferson Creek Park, I've landed some big smallies, even a decent pike. Mostly caught them where the mouth of the creek meets the river where that dreaded sandbar is.

I went out there early this year and had a really good day. It’s a fun pool. I meant to get back out there when the water was higher so I could check out the 5 islands area more

@@btmbass8558 I used to fish way up there a lot from my John boat. It gets shallow after that first big bend by the island
