Hi Britt. Marie was and still is the youngest to debut at #1. This version of the song came out in 1973. Marie was 14. The song hit #1 on the country charts. She is like 63 or 64 now and still drop dead gorgeous. Along the way she also had 8 kids.

So many guys had a crush on her. Believe it or not, she was only 14 years old in this clip -- she looks like she's 21, but she's only 14. She did a great duet with Dan Seals in the mid-80s called "Meet Me In Montana". Her voice changed a lot when she got older -- it got much higher.

I've been a fan of the Osmonds since the original 4 singing brothers (Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay) first appeared on the Andy Williams Show. Donny, Marie, and Jimmy came a little later, also on the Andy Williams Show. They have 2 older brothers (Tommy and Virl) who are deaf but can play a few instruments and also dance. Their mother taught them to "feel" the vibrations. Together the Osmonds play about 30 instruments and have been performing for 60+ years; however, most have recently retired.

This was her first time putting out a song. She developed her singing as she got older. The followup that all the other reactors seem to be doing to this song is going to be Dan Seals and Marie Osmond - "Meet Me In Montana". (lol, yeah I notice a pattern in how the reaction channels work lately. You're about the 20th reactor to do this song in the last 2 to 3 weeks and then comes the Dan Seals and Marie Osmond duet hot on its heels.) However, "Meet Me In Montana" is genuinly an AWESOME, AWESOME song! (written by the great Paul Davis). And Dan Seals and Marie Osmond were a perfect match up for it. They are fantastic as a duet. Looking forward to it 'cause I KNOW that's what you'll be requested next by one of your subscribers for the next Marie Osmond reaction. People seem to be making the rounds with the reaction channels requesting the same song to everyone before they move on to the next one to make the rounds with another one. But hey, that's cool. Good music can never been heard too often! 😄

She actually sings opera. Marie has a great voice and is a sweetheart. Marie/Donny had a Variety show and a Talk Show. Then did a huge long running show in Vegas. Marie then did a year as a host on The Talk. She’s also had sadness. Her son killed himself. On a happy note Marie and her 1st husband found each other again after her 2nd divorce (not a good marriage) and got remarried and are still together. She is the main spokesperson for Nutrisystem. She still sings (a few different genres and is still touring)

There are 9 osmond children altogether. The eldest two boys were born with varying levels of deafness, so the next four boys started in the early 1960s singing as a barbershop quartet to raise money for hearing aids for their brothers. They were discovered at Disneyland, snd eventually into the Andy Williams show for most of the 60s. By then Donny joined his older brothers, and they started singing more pop and rock n roll. Donny eventually started singing with Marie, and trhy got their own variety show in the 70s, which often featured the other brothers, including youngest brother Jimmy, who was a solo artist on his own, as well as performing with the family. The parallels with the Jackson family were significant. 9 children in each. Michael and Donny were both #7. Their mothers shared the exact same birthday. Mrs. Osmond played saxophone, and Mrs Jackson clarinet. Michael and Donny maintained a friendship for decades, until Michael's untimely passing.

Marie is definitely an underrated vocalist. She is fabulous. I saw one of the Osmond's in an interview and learned that they and their children were all involved with mission work and would take time away from singing to do so. I turned 10 in 1970. My parents were very liberal, but not quite hippies, so I remember my Mom and Dad in bell bottoms growing up. In the late 60's and early 70's my Mom and Dad argued a couple of times because my Mom liked to wear her jeans with a very low waist and my Dad thought they were too low. Then in the late 70's I remember her wearing high waist pants and skirts.

The Jacksons and The Osmonds had many similarities and differences. Both came from large families. The Jacksons had 11 children (one son Brandon who was twins with Marlon died when they were one day old), The Osmonds had 9 children. They both come from deeply religious homes The Jacksons are Jehovah Witness and The Osmonds LDS Morons. The Osmonds came out first as four of boys started as a Barbershop Quartet to make money for their older brothers hear aids as the two oldest boys in the family are deaf. They got noticed by the father of singer Andy Williams and he put the boys on his TV show. They older they got Donny was then put into the group. Their style of music changed to pop and more of what the older guys wanted to sing. When the Jacksons came out people wanted to pit them against each other, but Donny and Michael became friends. Both Donny and Michael sang with their brothers and had Solo in their early teen. There was a song Donny was going to sing on, but his voice started to change, and it was giving to their sister Marie to sing alone with "Paper Roses" which she recorded at age 13. In the mid 70's Donny & Marie got their own TV show. In the 80's Marie had her own show. These days the older brother and the youngest brother Jimmy sing in Brandson, Missouri.
