This track is an edited one. The original full recording has a very fluid and gorgeous sax solo. This is a Carpenters classic to be cherished forever!

Karen was amazing. Pitch perfect & clear (w/o auto tune.) Beautiful, rich tone. 3-octave range. Incredible breath control. Impeccable diction. Seamless transition between her upper & lower registers. And she makes you FEEL every word!! And Richard knew how to make the arrangements - instrumentation, timing, etc. - that fit them perfectly. Add their tight harmonies (all the harmonies are done by Richard & Karen themselves, overdubbed) and… pure PERFECTION!

Nice reaction to this wonderful song. Great lyrics written by Leon Russell. "I love you in a place where there's no space or time". Love that line! Saw where you did "Superstar". Also written by Leon Russell. Karen's voice is pitch perfect pure passion, always leaves the listener longing for more. RIP Beautiful Karen. Try "This Masquerade". Another Leon Russell tune and one of my favorite Carpenters songs. Great example of Karens deep contralto three level octave range and Richards talents on the keys.

Karen was one of a kind. There will never be another like her. She had such a pure calming voice. And she was a terrific drummer. That was her passion even more than singing. Sadly we lost her so young. Thankfully we have her legacy left in her music. The Carpenters had so many great songs such as "We've Only Just Begun", "For All We Know", "Rainy Days & Mondays", "Superstar", "Goodbye To Love", "Top Of The World", "Sing", "Yesterday Once More", "I Won't Last A Day Without You", "Please Mr. Postman", "Only Yesterday", "There's A Kind Of Hush (All Over the World)", "I Need To Be In Love" & so many more.

Here it is some fifty years post her death, and I still cannot get enough of this supremely talented lady. She touches my soul spiritually like an angel must be able to do. I was and am still in love with Karen. And special love to Richard for the songs, harmonies and arrangements. I am supremely blessed to have come of age when they hit it big. 🙏 I consider myself so lucky to have come of age when I did. Thank you, God!

You're right, they don't make songs like this anymore, but the world is constantly changing. It's very nice to see that young folk appreciate the music from my era as a teenager. There is another recording (longer) with a saxophone solo. Find it and listen to it! ❣️

You need to look up and find the full version of this song with the sax solo. You've discovered one of the finest female voices. Became a fan when they hit the airwaves and continue to marvel at their musicianship and her amazing voice and percussion skills (she was a phenomenal drummer). Saw them live in '73 when she was still behind the drum kit for most of the show, and it was epic.

A voice like no other. The legend Karen Carpenter. Her brother is a genius arraigner a piano player. In the music world not the now world she is one of the greatest voices ever. Karen also is a world class drummer. Maybe the best female drummer ever. Buddy Rich and Hal Blaine say so. Their is a longer version which is about 4:30. Carpenters were the #1 selling american group in the 70's. 14 #1's on the adult cotemporary charts and had 17 consecutive singles hit top 20 or better. Have sold over 150 million records and growing to date. Close To You, Superstar, and We've Only just Begun are the beginning of the Carpenter rabbit hole.

Hi Justin! First off THERE IS MORE, the video is truncated, the song with no video has the sax solo and more. Check it out. Welcome to the Carpenters rabbit hole. There is a lot of really great music here from mostly the 1970’s. Siblings Richard and Karen Carpenter and the band are Carpenters. Many of the band members were in for the run from 1969 to 1983 when Karen died from the effects of Anorexia. They left us with a legacy of great music and Karen’s magical voice. Some suggestions and double-checking what you already chose. Rainy Days and Mondays (Live at the Desert Inn ), Close To You, We’ve Only Just Begun (On the YOU set), and my personal favorite which is a live performance. The Bacharach/David Medley for The Ed Sullivan Show, 1970 (Karen is 20). For the record Richard is about 3 years her senior. He is the creator of the “Carpenters “sound.” Arranging, composing many songs, keyboards and more. A Song For You was by the great Leon Russell. I’ll try and link the performance I recommended after I post the text. It’s a risky move for what ever reason. Enjoy your ride! Joe ETA: If the Carpenters’ Army finds you, 100k is right around the corner. I see some already. More battalions ahead. kzitem.info/news/bejne/2qip24B5f2t3p34si=gNU_a7JBRYkniIdj

Karen may have had the most mesmerizing voices ever. The best thing about her voice, in my opinion, is that I've never heard any other singer described as sounding like Karen. She is unique. As a Home Fry, it is good seeing you in a different genre. My recommendation to you is to listen to the Carpenters version of 'The Masquerade.' It is not a song listened to by many, but it is my favorite of their songs and has great instrumentals in it. Keep up the good work!

Lip synched to the studio version, but still beautiful. You should react to Harriet, and English singer who sounds amazingly like Karen. Her cover of Home is so beautiful.
