Always loved this as the 7" track, and the 12" is just so much fun with the extended intro. It's archetypal 80s for those of us who grew up during the decade, and Giorgio Moroder is a genius.

You should check out the original version, I think this extended version makes it very confusing what's going on in the video/movie clips. I also think that the original version has harder synths, a harder break,, and I think is all round better than this weird extended version. Please check it out. I think your assertions on his the other version might be is wrong, it's a classic. This version just feels a bit too watered down to me.

Yep this is like too many cooks, the original doesn't need to be messed with. Its strange that no other mainstream reaction channels have touched this song. Or any of Moroders other classics for that matter.

"Electric Dreams" was such an interesting movie on its time...when PCs were just starting to be used at homes and owning one was the ultimate thing . The guy buys a computer and later on he falls in love with the girl, who is his next door neighbor, however, "Eddy" (The computer) has feelings and falls in love with the girl too as he listens to her playing the cello. Eddy and the guy become rivals and the computer shows all kind of human feelings. Other great songs and videos of that soundtrack are: "Love is Love" by Culture Club, "Video" by ELO's Jeff Lynn and the great instrumental Giorgio Moroder's "The Duel" actually "performed" by Eddy the computer and the girl on the film

Virginia Madsen is the actress. The soundtrack is a killer. The two tracks from Culture Club -Love Is Love and The Dream. Helen Terry who did back-up vocals and duet vocals with Culture Club had her own song Now You're Mine. Jeff Lynne (E.L.O.) also had two tracks and the title track Electric Dreams by legendary P.P. Arnold. The movie just came out to buy on streaming services via Vudu etc. It's never been released in the US on DVD or Blu-Ray only available on VHS and Laserdisc.

Helen Tery was an underated voice.Such a big sound was breathing out of her mouth.Strong but also silky as well.My fave of her's is her contribution in "Church of the poisoned mind" and "It's a miracle".Also in "Love is love" she's beautifuly distinguishable.

I'm old enough to remember having a cassette of the 1985 album titled "Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder". A bit ahead of its time. You are correct, "Together in electric dreams" is very Pop because it was for the 1984 movie "Electric Dreams". But you might want to check out some of the other tracks from that collaborative album? Track listing... 1. "Why Must the Show Go On" 2. "In Transit" 3. "Good-Bye Bad Times" 4. "Brand New Love (Take a Chance)" 5. "Valerie" 6. "Now" 7. "Together in Electric Dreams" 8. "Be My Lover Now" 9. "Shake It Up" 2003 reissue CD edition bonus tracks 10. "Together in Electric Dreams" (Extended) 11. "Together in Electric Dreams" (Instrumental) 12. "In Transit" (Extended) 13. "Good-Bye Bad Times" (12" Remix) 14. "Good-Bye Bad Times" (Instrumental) 15. "Be My Lover Now" (12" Remix) 16. "Be My Lover Now" (Instrumental)

Hello Dereck, The whole intro is on top; we board the musical vessel. Unfortunately, I find it goes bad as soon as the voices enter the scene. And what follows is even more disappointing, to my taste anyway. I felt like I'd embarked on a trip to Mars but finally landed on Disneyland or Mary Poppins' home. 😊 Fortunately, this rather long musical bridge makes the rocket take off again towards the end. Too bad this title doesn't deserve his so propulsive intro, I think. 🤔...Next! 😅

This was the only successful song Philip Oakey (from "The Human League") and Giorgio Moroder (has the Cizeta Moroder V16 sportscar named after him) ever had. It is often (wrongly) assumed to be a Human League song. Not a english native - is "Get out" good or bad? The version on spotify (the film edit) is way more upbeat and has stronger vocals.

Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Philip Oakey. So happy that you made this song that I had suggested in one of my comms on one of the last Human League reacts (again!😁😉), but too bad it's not the original version but not serious because the version 7" is great so I can't even imagine the "extended version" it's even better, a pure treat for the ears! With Mylène, that's two very good reactions in the day even if it's not the same decade. I remember this song a little but I don't think that in France it managed to get into the TOP 50 or at least a lot on the radio. Maybe heard for the promotion of this film. This song "Together In Electric Dreams" was released in September 1984 as the soundtrack of the movie "Electric Dreams" of the same year, ranked no. in the UK Singles Chart while remaining present for 13 weeks. But it will be the only song in partnership with Gorgio Moroder for the singer who will find success despite the release of the collaborative album "Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder" on July 29, 1985. Ironically, the song was such a hit that it made people forget about the movie itself! Funny! 😅The same thing with Lionel Ritchie for the song "Say You Say Me" in 1985! who knows the title of the movie? For the film, Steve Barron, who had already collaborated with Philip Oakey's group the Human League for their song "Don'T You Want Me", wanted to imitate the huge success of the film lalshdance released a year earlier, of which Giorgio Moroder was the composer and then hired him as musical director. The promotional clip associates the images of the film with those of the singer like any soundtrack of films. This one was shot in Los Angeles and not in San Francisco as one might think. But the movie was a FLOP in UK cuz the image is too associated with that of Philip Oakey and his group Human League. Thanks for your amazing work our American pal. 👌🇫🇷
