One Piece brings out so many emotions while watching it. Oda will have you thinking a throw away character is just that then turn it around and stick it to you and you'll never forget them. Then later they reappear and you see how much they've changed and the world around them has as well. Time after time. There are several scenes that every time I watch them I'll unashamedly cry big manly tears.

As an avid AoT/Naruto/Dragon Ball series fan, I can say without any hesitation that the plot of One Piece in its entirety will top any other animé (or any show/cinema/TV) when it reaches its conclusion. People talk about how 1000 episodes is too much. But let me just say this one quote that everyone who has been in this journey knows. :) “One Piece is not long. It's actually not long enough.”

Oda's world I put on par, if not better, than JRR Tolkien's world of Middle Earth. The lore is INTENSELY deep, the emotions run high, the characters are well written, but it's all given with fun humor and times that will make you bust out laughing. Hands down, one of the best shows and pieces of media to likely ever be written. The biggest problem for most new people is the length (1000+ episodes and chapters) and it's art style. If you like the style, jump right on in cause the show will be an emotional rollercoaster.

Sit and watch One Piece, stick with it and you won’t regret it. The best story ever told, it’s the only one that’s changed my life. Watch at your pace unless you want to become a One Piece reactor, but of course be prepared for that to take years. Though it’s been incredible for channels as far as I’ve seen, that keep on a regular and decent size schedule of around 6-8 episodes a week. I’d just say enjoy it however you like if you want to watch it. Your reactions are great, thanks for the video!
You have to love or hate One Piece but there should be no person that has no emotions about this series. Especially if someone has tipped its toe in it. This series has something for everyone to offer. Visuals, various story plots, comedy, drama, tears and laughter. Real world history lessons like a high school course and much more. I follow this show for about 20 years and I find even now some new stuff in the first story arcs I have seen and read countless times. A single manga panel can tell stories for that other writers have to fill 15 or even 50 pages of text. There are so many references towards the real world. So many real places and people got their counterpart in this world. Famous actors, musicians, athletes as well as regional tales and folklore from around the world. I am embarrassed right now for not recognizing Albert Einstein as Vegapunk in the latest chapter. I was so stunned by the plot that I didn't see his caricature while drawn perfectly like in the famous photo. All those references alone make this work phenomenal. Then the many drama plots, slapstick comedy and the fight scenes. In every way a theme park of emotions. One Piece has so many layers. Therefore the treasure in the story isn't just adventure and friendship as well as other values the crew share but it is part of it. The One Piece manga is the treasue itself for all readers and viewers and for Oda himself as well. It is a phenomenon you can't describe in a few words and if I try then I say: "One Piece teaches about life and One Piece is life itself". I also recomment "The Appeal of One Piece: Where to Start" and "Why You Should Watch/ Read One Piece" by Super Eyepatch Wolf for more insight (the videos are 5 years old but pretty good with over a million of views each).

every location shown in this video has a name. if it has people, it has a culture and a system of government, usually a monarchy. for the islands the main characters actually visit, we have a lot more cohesive and in-depth histories and looks into their existence, but even for the ones relegated to single shots in backgrounds, we have names, inhabitants and cultures. alabasta, kingdom of sand, worships the falcon and the jackal, they are it's guardian deities. it is a hereditary monarchy ruled over by the nefertari family from the capital of alubarna and its primary exports include stone, weapons and, in good times, agricultural products. it has an ancient history going back at least a thousand years, and it borrows heavily from real-world later eras of ancient egypt in its styling and architecture. alabasta has 5 major cities we know of, each centered on a major water source, like the sea, the sandora river, or an oasis. the characters spend a week there. now imagine how in-depth it gets when you hear about a place for most of the story, like wano or fishman island.

As much as people praise Tolkien for his world building, Oda is every bit as good. Whenever you're with the main crew, other characters are doing their own things somewhere else, and Oda never forgets that. When characters get reintroduced, you can tell they've had their own big events happening while we haven't seen them. World-changing events happen without the crew knowing about them until after the fact because they weren't there.

I thought it was goofy looking. Started watching anime back in 2007. I was watching Naruto and Bleach at the time, and what attracted me to anime was it was so different from western cartoons. So seeing one piece wich looked like another western cartoon I wrote it off as not as cool. It wasn't until I was in uni like 9 years later when I saw my roommate watching it, that i decided to actually see whats it about. It was in an arch when some serious stuff was happening and then it hit me like ohh it's not just some goofy looking cartoon like anime and i saw it past it's art style and for what it is. And I think tht was the case for alot of people too. Naruto and bleach was alot of peoples gateway anime and OP looked cartoonish.

You'll fall in love with a lot of townspeople NPCs! this fan video exemplifies what I think is one of the core themes of one piece: "the world is beautiful". An adventure is worth as much as the places it leads you to. Even with tragedy and darkness, there is beauty in the world, waiting to be seen. That's the feeling One Piece makes you feel. Youa re jsut a small thing in this huge world, a world filled with incredible sights and places and things you could NEVER imagine, and isn't that WONDERFUL? One Piece is PEAK fantasy in my eyes.
