Poseidon is god of the sea, earthquakes and horses, he created them as a gift in a competition against Athena in order to become the patron god of a city of sailors, Athena created the olive tree, which would give them commercial, culinary and fuel benefits, while Poseidon created horses out of sea foam, which would lessen the burden of agriculture, travel and work, as well as entertainment, but as they were sailors they saw more benefit in Athena's gift and therefore named their city Athens in her honor. Poseidon has also had many horse offspring, most well known would be the Pegasus from Medusa and Perseus story, so he is considered to be the father of horses and pegasi. This is also reflected in mircsy's animation of the cyclops, who is a child of Poseidon, and while it is a creative choice on their part, it is one I really enjoyed, her design is by far my favorite, it would be really cool if you could see Polyphemus introduction in 'Polyphemus' by mircsy.

Though in some tellings, Posiedon made a salt water spring as his thing for Athens, and instead made horses trying to win over the heart of the goddess Demeter

I agree about the Cyclops decision they made. I feel so bad having to explain to people that the "way I like to watch it" is with drastic different choices in interpretations sometimes. I mean you can't NOT watch the Cyclops bit without watching those badass videos by mircsy.

Odysseus suffers from the same weakness other heroes do: pride. He could have sailed away and kept his mouth shut, but he wanted to MAKE SURE Polyphemus knew who blinded him in a roundabout way of avenging his men. After all, you're not likely to forget the name of the person who hurt you. In a twisted way, they won't be forgotten.

Poseidon is the Earthshaker. So that includes the sea, storms, earthquakes, and the rumble of the hooves of horses. Much like Athena is represented with owls, Zeus with bulls and eagles, Hera with peacocks and cows, Artemis with deer and boar, Ares with war dogs and vultures, etc. Greek gods have animal symbols that represent the cultural values both were associated with.

Also notice how Odysseus’ apology wasn’t even an apology. It was just an explanation/ excuse

Even if he apologiese properly Posaidon would have done the same "The Line Between, Naivity and Hopefullness is almost invinsible" the apology wouldn't have helped him since the lesson is "Ruthlessness is Mercy" the apologie was a test like saying "You try apologise thinikng I will grant you mercy? So You didnt lean the lesson. Die" Plus he would be lying to a god, he doesn't feel sorry for what he did, idk if a false apology would help his case haha

Have you ever lookd at the Trojan horse, and wondered why a horse? and not say a lion? or an owl? The reason is simple the Greeks wanted to convince the Trojans they had left, and had built the trojan horse as an offering to Poseidon for a safe journey home. Poseidon beside being the God of the sea, was also the god of horses, he created them. There is two different origin myth's,to how it happened, one where he created horses doing a competition with Athena, over the favor of Athens, which might be piece of Athens propgranda as it was from one of their plays. And the older myth, where he created horse in an attempt to gain the favour of the godress Demeter, who is the godress of the harvest and fertility. Demeter and Posedion ended up having an argument, where Demeter claimed Posedion shouldn't create anything beautiful, Poseidon is responsible for the creation of nearly all monsters in Greek mythology, so her claim wasen't unfounded. So he created the horse to prove her wrong, while also trying to impress her. It took him a few attempt to get right, which resulted in the creation of the Hippo and the Zebra. In AnniFlamma animation, Poseidon chooses to depict himself as a horse to do several thing, One to indirectly call out Odysseus for the fake offering at Troy, which kinda build up Poseidon's point, that he has been acting merciful towards Odysseus. Because a God would normally act more like the goverment does when you fail to pay your taxes. Second and more important, is to mess with Odysseus head, Poseidon is reminding him of Troy constantly doing AnniFlamma's animation. More orbivious you see it, when talking about how Odysseus choose to spare the life of the Cyclops, while he holding the shape of an infant in his arms before dropping it in front of Odysseus. You know like how Odysseus dropped an infant from a wall, someone he choose not to spare. Posedion want him to relive that moment. While giving Odysseus an entirely new dose of trauma.

Personally i think Poseidon was taunting Odysseus because he is the God of horses as well as the sea, but Odysseus used the Trojan Horse, this could be a slap in the face reminding him he is nothing compared to Poseidon.

The Horse is one of the sacred animals of Posideon (along with Bulls and Dolphins). In ancient times he was worshipped in the form of a Horse. Others have commented already about the creation myth of Horses by Posideon so I won't go into that. Worth noting one of the famous festivals/events that praised Posideon was a sacred Horse Race. Also in the song worth noting when Posideon asked for an apology Odysseus just made excuses and tried to justify himself rather than just saying sorry.

A thing that i see people missing on that song, or at least said they don't say it, is that Poseidon kill Odisseus' men becouse he don't has the will to be ruthles, like, if he had killed Polyphemus they would be at home by that time (This is the meaning of the lyric "Rhuthlesnes is mercy upon oursefs") andthis will be a great part in the next two sagas ( Circe saga and Underworld saga ).

5:00 My analysis for why Odysseus gave his name and address to the Cyclops he just blinded is because this was the first heroic action he's done in a while that he's proud of. He's been feeling terrible about killing a baby that would one day be a terrible monster on the orders of the gods and can't forgive himself for it. So, he finds a terrible, man-eating monster and is able to find a way to render it harmless, but shows "mercy" by not killing it (against Athena's direct orders) to make up for the mercy he couldn't show the baby. This makes him feel like the smartest guy alive, smarter than the goddess of wisdom, and he finally feels like a hero, so he shouts his name to make sure everyone knows that he's the one who found this wonderful solution to the problem.

Another fact in the mythos, Poseidon is known to have a lot of monsters and nymphs for children and he always come when they call for help. Whatever Odyssey could have said, Poseidon would have punished him since it was his son’s demand.

@@VictorNightroadYeah it’s actually based of different stories like a big drama serie with too many episodes. Miss one and you are lost! 😂 The dolphin is Apollo’s animal because he’s a dramaqueen who wanted his temple to have the perfect place and a lot of followers so he traveled as a dolphin to bring some sailors to an island 😅
