Prepare to shiver. This is very engaging in a disturbing way. Great rendition of Disney's most evil villain. It is clear that Geoff is wonderful in all five octaves that he can sing. Subscribed.

They all have incredible ranges, but they also double track when they want to....
@ThalesMusicCorner

yeah, I know they do doubling, since that's a common effect to "enrichen" the sound. I just thought they might keep the songs such a way as to be able to perform them live. :)

Double tracking is different form doubling. Double tracking is two different lines. Due to thier other obligations Voiceplay has no plans to go back to touring, so they aren't limiting thier arrangement so what they can do in person.@@ThalesMusicCorner

It may be Geoff double tracked or it could be either Eli or J, who can both get down to bass. In fact J is now singing bass with his job in the Navy. Eli is pronounced as Ellie, by the way. Try Geoff's solo channel, low bass covers. One that's not heard much, rarely covered or reacted to, is his Till Then. A beautiful old song from 1944.

@@ThalesMusicCornerTill Then was originally covered by The Mills Brothers in the late 40s. It is the story of a soldier who writes a letter to his sweetheart while overseas asking her to wait. Kathy makes a little bit of a cameo there. It worried us when he first announced that he was doing it because he announced it as his last video! He meant last video of the year but we all panicked! You can see New Year’s Eve preparations on the table and on the piano.

You decided to start out with really really good choices. It’s not going to take very long for other VoicePlay and Geoff fans to find you! This is an absolute stunner. When he starts singing Geoff almost (but not quite) appears vulnerable and then you see his descent into madness. I think it’s interesting that J, Eli and Cesar sing a lot of the lines about the temptations of Esmeralda, the weaknesses of other people, and how it isn’t his fault. That choral portion when it segues into something that sounds like church bells ringing emphasizes the fact that he was a high ranking member of the church. That makes his position even more vile. That leaves Geoff to be able to voice all the twisted evil of the character. And boy does he pull that off! He blames her, he blames the devil, and he even blames God. And then that switch gets flipped.🔥🔥🔥 I’ve always hated the character of Frollo but found the song to be beautiful and powerful in a very disturbing way. Because they didn’t only present the evil, Frollo almost seems human in their cover . As far as that bassline when Geoff is singing in his higher range, I believe it was probably Layne. He can easily go that low and he had not started beatboxing yet. But it could’ve been J because he was just recently reassigned as a bass when he moved out to the East Coast. And Eli has covered the bassline for Geoff when they used to perform on stage (although in an octave higher). I don’t think it would’ve been Cesar, but they’re always surprising us. Oh, and it was Tony Wakim as the disgraced guard. They decided to add that so drafted Tony and a few minutes later he was in a monk’s robe getting ready to be yelled at. Once a member of VoicePlay, you are always a member of VoicePlay apparently.😂

As to other music... you already know the three brothers... Pentatonix, Home Free and Voiceplay, so I do not have much advice on that... although I would suggest watching Pattycake Studios (Laynes other gig). But for another group to react to... Sabaton, the rock bards who write excusively about history. Trust me when I say there is a LOT of crossover between VP fans and Sabaton, and we will get you to 500 subs pretty quick.

Layne has a small bass singing part, but for the rest it is Geoff being double tracked. It's quite normal for them to do that on their songs, since Geoff has the best voice for bass. The others CAN sing bass, but their bass voices just don't have the strong quality that Geoff's has. So they usually just double track Geoff. On rare occasion you might see Eli, J or Layne sing some bass in their videos. But live on stage any of those 3 can and will sing the bass line during Geoff's solo parts.

Since you can see most of the other members also singing their own parts, SOMEONE is almost certainly being double-tracked to perform the bass while Geoff is singing solos, so it just makes sense (at least to me, LOL!) to have the best bass singer do that - which is Geoff. While the other members can do some bass work when they need to, they aren't going to be as good in tone (or probably low notes) as Geoff, so might as well have him do the bass track when they have no need to pull someone else off their "usual" part.

Music other than VP/Geoff, that's good to react to, if you aren't already familiar with it: * Moonlight Sonata, 3rd Movement, Tina S. * Bloodywood. Start with either Gadaar or Aaj. About half of the lyrics are in English, and the Hindi lyrics have English translations open-captioned. * Weird Al Yankovic. Bonus points for doing double/back-to-back reactions to the original songs and his parodies thereof. Although he also has some original songs that are great, e.g., Sports Song, Hardware Store. * Glad's version of Joy to the World. Unfortunately they never did an official music video, but there's a decent video on KZitem of the song with synchronized Christmas lights for the visual. * David Bruce's "5 Composers 1 X" series (1 Theme, 1 Orchestra, etc.) * Adam Neely's Making the Locrian Scale Sound Good and/or Can the Phrygian Scale Sound Happy.. * Ray Stevens. Sitting Up with the Dead is a good starting point. * Namewee has several good ones, but start with the Fragile music video ("It might break your pinkie heart"). The satire is real. (The video has built-in official subtitles, open caption, in three languages, one of which is English.) * Two Cellos. Maybe start with Thunderstruck. * P.D.Q. Bach. Some of his works are more accessible than others; maybe start with Long Live the King, or the "New Horizons in Music Appreciation" take on Symphony #5. * Babymetal. Personally I like their early work (particularly iine), but a lot of people prefer their later work, e.g., BxMxC. * Haggard. Renaissance metal. Yes, really. Awaking the Centuries is a good starting point. Moving out of the realm of music... * Who's On First (Abbott & Costello, a comedy duo from the first half of the twentieth century). * Animaniacs, or the old Looney Toons cartoons (Bugs Bunny in particular) * First Black Cookout (Zach Rushing) * The Gift Basket (Gabriel Iglesias) * SciCraft server tours.
