My only problem with this film is it wasn't longer. I wanted more time with the world because it felt so lore rich but feel the middle section was hurried (not rushed but just not given the time it deserved). Everything else was perfection. An underrated gem. It's a shame they don't write movies for adults with the same feeling as Disney Pixar anymore
@kennethlau8990

It was not rushed. The pacing is rather consistent, and I don't know what you were talking about when you talked about the "middle section": I don't see any problems there. Plus, this movie did have a mature theming. Also, their movies (including Pixar) are made for everyone, not exclusively for adults. I hate the "they don't make it like that anymore" argument: it's baseless and driven entirely by entitled fan service.

This would've worked more as a series. There was so much info dumping that a lot was told instead of shown. The world building needed to be fleshed out and the writing lacked some focus, imo. Angelina I'm super grateful that after "84 Years" and just like _Moana_ and _Encanto_ you finally got to react and watch the long-awaited _Raya and the Last Dragon_ so thank you so much. Despite everyone's criticism on this movie, the film was alright and enjoyable, despite the film's problems stemming from the "message" of the movie, which is Trusting others and "Taking the First Step" which the majority seem very critical on, so I don't blame the majority of you who aren't a fan of the movie's message. Now while this film might not be the strongest and a huge favorite film of the "Disney Revival" Era compared to the other films like _Frozen, Tangled, Moana, Zootopia_ and _Encanto,_ I still enjoy it for the visuals, the soundtrack/score composed by James Newton Howard, and the vocal performances of the voice cast most particularly Awkwafina as Sisu. I also think that _Raya_ is perfect for a potential world/level in a future _Kingdom Hearts_ game and there are so many things that this film and _Kingdom Hearts_ have in common with each other besides the Dragon Gem and Raya being the "Princess of the land of Heart" is the theme "Trust", and throughout the film, the Tribes (Fang, Spine, Talon, Tail) distrusted one another and wanted to fight over for the Dragon Gem that the Land of Heart, and when the Dragon Gem broke this caused the return of the Druun which also greatly mirrored what happens in _χ_ and especially _Union χ_ when the Foretellers and the Dandelion Leaders (Ephemer, Skuld, Brain, Lauriam and Ventus) had distrust with one another leading to a catastrophic event: For χ, the Keyblade War and for Union χ, it's the Darknesses appearing and the destruction of the data Daybreak Town, which mirrors the Druun's return in Raya. In addition, Sora using the Power of Waking to revive his friends and later Kairi until he disappears for abusing that power in _Kingdom Hearts III_ mirrors what Sisu did when she used the power of the Dragon Gem from her siblings to vanquish the Druun and revive everyone (except the Dragons) but caused her to disappear. So Angelina from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for reacting to _Raya and the Last Dragon._ 🐉🐲 Hope you get to react to the following Disney and Pixar Animated movies on your channel like _Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Zootopia,_ _Cinderella, The Jungle Book, The Aristocats, Oliver & Company, Aladdin, Mulan, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Atlantis, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, A Bugs Life, The Incredibles 1-2, Monster's University, Brave, Inside Out, Onward, Soul,_ and _Luca_ along with reactions to the 2008 _Star Wars: The Clone Wars_ film and its Subsequent TV series, DreamWorks' _Rise of the Guardians, Abominable,_ and _The Bad Guys_ (which the latter film does have Awkwafina in this film, if you love her as Sisu)

My theories on why this film is so underrated right now: 1. It’s not a stereotypical princess musical. 2. It was released during Covid (however Druun are so symbolic for that reason.) 3. This is the kind of message our polarized socio-political climate does NOT want to hear. Of course that alone makes this message even more important, but there you have it; People being people. hi everyone!!😊how’s it all going and what’s going on!? so today we wanted to share that our feelings and thoughts are intertwined together, in ourselves and through others and that we all share our survival instincts that help us make every single one of our decisions and actions happen, including conflict as a way to help protect and preserve ourselves from any outside forces!! think back to every encounter that you first had with a new person, did you feel safe and happy, or did you feel threatened and aggressive or others!? and that’s because we’re wired to treat everything new as potentially dangerous or harmful until we get to know it better and we become comfortable and confident with each other and ourselves!! and this can fall into many categories and different areas of our lives and society such as trust and respect and the importance of being able to communicate together!! because we have that driving force inside us that’s always saying, “get what you need, have what you want and can, and stay alive!”, and so on forth!! and with that that’s why we have trouble trusting and trying to understand others, not because of them, but it’s because of ourselves who’ve just may have been afraid to do so or that with all that we’ve seen as a result of the first and the other repeated experiences we’ve had with each other that causes us to assume and accept the things that might not be true; individual and personal experiences with societal and collective experiences have been conflicting because everyone has this survival instinct that, even when that best and biggest desire that we’ve wanted for so long, we forget to see that what brought that want was our need for each other and that that’s what we truly wanted; we’ve been in a cycle that goes like that: self awareness->new experience/encounter->flight/fight/freeze response->results from that response->determination of what now->repeat if necessary!! and so what if we told you that we’re trying to find ways to add and revise that cycle so that we can have the life we never knew we needed!! and we think that every individual has a unique one of their own and that they can create and share theirs too and speak their voices!! that’s all for now everyone and we shall see you soon and have a new and exciting fun time!!☺️

what i dislike in this movie is making raya be blamed for not trusting someone, even though the reason for that was her trusting someone. another thing is how despite raya's principle of trusting no one, she still was kinda quick with recruiting people and trusting them. i did enjoy the movie, the comedy not so much, but some moments were fun. fave character is the father and boun for sure. animation, visuals and music are amazing, despite that, i don't think i would want to rewatch this movie. but yeah, this movie would probably work better as a series. especially with the message about trust, which is not a quick and easy thing to do. also, the world and characters need more development. cause that's another thing. i don't think i developed much connection to many of the characters cause of how quick everything went through.

I love the idea of this movie, the aesthetic, the artwork, the comedy, the heartfelt moments. But I dislike this movie because it has no idea what it’s message is or how to convey it. Over and over every time anyone trusts there are disastrous consequences. They drive the point home continuously meanwhile saying the problem is she doesn’t trust enough. In the end the solution is…..you guessed it, complete trust. The message couldn’t be muddier.

@@TheNeilBlack The problem is the film goes out of its way to victim blame Raya when Namaari was the one who pointed a loaded crossbow at Sisu. Namaari is entirely at fault for Sisu's death, and then she has the audacity to blame Raya for the chaos that followed. Even then this situation could've been saved if Namaari gave her gem piece to Raya instead of the other way around, conveying her trust and silently acknowledging her mistake. But no, Raya was the one to make the first move, and Namaari reassembles the gem when it was the only path she had left and everyone else was already turned to stone. The film absolves and even validates such a selfish and untrustworthy character, and that makes for a very bad moral.
@TheNeilBlack
Жыл бұрын
@@matthewmazzatto8003 Raya does share blame for Sisu's death, though. She attacked Namaari and set off the crossbow. Namaari being the one to reassemble the gem is a major point of the movie's themes and the story would be weaker if they'd just had Raya do it.
@matthewmazzatto8003

@@TheNeilBlack Ask yourself this: if someone had a weapon pointed at your friend and they looked like they were about to fire it (Namaari's finger was shown tightening on the trigger), what would you do? Most people would try and stop the hostile person from shooting their friend. It's really difficult to blame Raya for reacting pretty rationally, especially considering that she knows Namaari is a conniving snake with a power-hungry family. If Namaari actually wanted to hear Sisu out, she wouldn't have been pointing a crossbow at her. As for Namaari reassembling the gem, I really disagree with your take. Raya has every reason imaginable to distrust Namaari, and Namaari should've made the first move to earn some of that trust back. Much like respect, trust is a two-way street, and Namaari never treads either. Instead, she burned those bridges several times over. Raya acquiescing to Namaari is the exact wrong lesson to teach people. Not everyone should or can be trusted, especially ones who repeatedly show you their true colors. I really hate this moral and ending to the film.

I'm sorry, I'm all for trust, but if someone I was supposed to trust pulled a gun on me and my friend during a vulnerable moment I'd probably jump in to intervene too. What's worse is that after shooting and killing my friend they had the nerve to say it was just as much my fault as it was theirs. I wouldn't hesitate to kill them. I wasn't the one that decided to bring a gun to a peaceful meeting and try to steal from us and kidnap my friend just because I couldn't tell my mom no. YOU chose violence in a time of peace, YOU had your finger on the trigger with every intention on using your weapon, YOU killed the only person who could have ended the apocalypse because YOU didn't care about how your actions effected anyone but YOUR own people. THIS IS ON YOU and you can never be trusted again.

Banyface, Raya and Namaari are to blame for Sisu's death. Namaari slightly twitching her finger on the crossbow lever didn't signify she was preparing to shoot Sisu as Namaari has a huge respect for Dragons including Sisu. Raya just jumped to conclusions or in this case "jumped the gun" due to her continued distrust towards Namaari and just threw her sword causing the crossbow to release the arrow and inadvertently killing Sisu in the process, while at the same time not trusting Sisu on giving Namaari a chance when Sisu was calming her down. So literally Raya's actions in that scene alone when Sisu tried to calm Namaari down did more harm than good which is the reason why Raya's continued distrust and "jumping the gun" by throwing the sword at the crossbow led to this consequence, so at the end if the day, no matter whose fault it was, both Raya and Namaari were at fault for accidentally killing Sisu. And on your argument on the triggered gun situation, you're literally trying to attack a scared/suicidal person still holding a triggered gun while the other person is trying to calm them down or in danger, just interfering the situation would result in the gun to fire and also causing the person and others to get hurt or in the worst case scenario killed. So who's fault is it the scared individual with the gun or the one jumping the gun and interfering the situation?!?

26:28 to 26:31 No! No! Screw you, Namaari. Sisu's death is 100% your fault. You holding a crossbow to shoot Sisu because you obsessed with dragon. Not only that, you want to build a better world for Fang.😠
