This film is such a reflection of my life- in SO many ways. To the point that when I read the book, I thought the author had talked to someone in my family. I love this film, and everyone in it. I have watched it, an uncountable amount of times. Funny enough, when I am stuck up at night and my mind is wandering, this film centers me and helps me sleep.

I feel exactly the same, when I first read the novel i never wanted to hug someone as hard as I wanted to hug Charlie, and then I realized it was because of how much I related to him. I can’t rewatch it that often because it hits way too close to home

I strongly recommend you to read the book. It will take you only a few hours, but they will be very fulfilling. The book is written in letters format, so you always have Charlie's point of view of everything so you can put yourself in his head and understand the struggles of his mind about the abuse he suffered as a kid and all the difficulties he had trying to socialize. Really, do yourself this favor and go a bit deeper in this story, It might change you in a very good way. A fun fact: this was the first book I read entirely in english without the support of a dictionary. I felt so proud when I finished it and could understand like half of the plot lol.

@@ethanclarkreacts This is one book-to-film adaptation that even people who enjoyed the book love because of how perfectly adapted it was. Of course, elements are still changed for the film but the movie was directed and written by the book's actual writer, Stephen Chbosky!

Yeah Charlie was quite the bad ass in the book. His older brother taught him to fight and he was surprisingly pretty good at it. He beats up a kid bullying him pretty early in the book saying that he could have hurt him much worse if he wanted to. They you got him taking down 2 upperclassmen to protect Patrick. Charlie is the gd sleeper build

This movie is a comfort for people who have experienced a lot of trauma that they can't talk about, because it makes them feel seen. It helps them feel connected back to the human race. Charlie had a great family, but he had secrets he couldn't even tell himself.

This movie is so interesting to watch in different periods of my life so far, I first watched in 2014 when entering high school, it resonated with me so much, I also was part of a friend group that was much older than me and on their way out, I had to deal with fixing hearts I didn’t break, friends falling into addiction and abusive relationships, I can’t help but visit this movie every 4 years and everytime I watch it I get a new found understanding on it. This movie though not being that massive is so raw and real, it’s a top 5 of all time

Slight Book spoiler: It explains more in the book as to why Charlie's Aunt was his favorite person in the world as he words it. Charlie's birthday was close to Christmas and she was the only person who got him a gift for his birthday and for Christmas. Everyone else just kind of combined gifts and got Charlie stuff just for Christmas. I still need to finish the book so that's the only reason that I know of. There might be more, but I'm not sure yet. Also, you kept it together better than I did for this film. If I did reaction content at the time that I watched this film, I probably wouldn't have ever posted my reaction to it, at all. I literally had my worst meltdowns ever after watching this movie, because I related to too much that had happened. I've been able to watch the film more and more though without being as upset as I initially was. But even with all that it's still one of my absolute favorites! I actually got my dad to watch this with me eventually and he opened up to me about his childhood for the 1st time which was huge! He's a tough critic when it comes to the films he likes, he's normally a history, military, documentary-type film guy. But he really enjoyed this film too!

Oh that gives way more into why he loves her so much. There was only the feeling of assuming different things why he loved her so much in the movie. I do need to read the book eventually. I would say I held myself together but generally in terms of how I react that was very emotion for me 😂 definitely was a husk for the rest of that week 😂

This is honestly one of my comfort movies/books. I have to be in the proper head space when I go into it or else it recks me even more. I just relate so heavily to Charlie that it has become the best tasteful depiction of what can happen to someone so young. Charlie unfortunately suppressed his memories with his aunt Helen for years, but mine were my first memories and I thankfully was smart enough to tell. It just breaks my heart that it is a real thing to happen and I wonder if the author actually experienced those things himself or if he knew someone who did as he'd be the right age.
