The Mini (not a cooper, just “mini”) is a MK3, so roughly 1970-1975. I can’t tell whether it’s a 1000cc engine or an 850cc engine, but it has a remote gear shifter rather than the ‘magic wand’ type so that’d make me lean toward it being a 1000. The interior is not the original to the car, the seats and door cards are from a mini clubman of roughly the same (and maybe slightly later) age, as is the front bumper. Weirdly it doesn’t have the drip rails on the roof guttering which all (uk spec) minis had from 1961/2-1978, but maybe they weren’t included on export cars🤷🏻♂️ I love the colour though and it looks a relatively easy project to get back on the road, despite the floor pan issue; all the parts you’d need to get it back on the road is easily available and everything that would need done is fairly simple too! I hope you guys hang onto it, would love to see more of it! Love the videos and love you!:)

What an awesome double feature! It’s great to see these two cars get some love after years of neglect… I hope the Mini goes to the metal shop and gets a new floor, but I really like the paint on it… even if it is a little funky. BMW started making semi enclosed scooters in the early 2000’s but I wish they just brought back the Isetta instead, but it is back as an EV called the Microlino. Both are such cool cars I can’t decedent which I like best!

When i was around 3-4 yrs old my mother had a mini - and an aquaintance to my grandmother had one of these BMW Isetta 'cockpit scooters' also known back then as a ladybug, where the whole fronts opens. The Isetta is such a weird thing, which makes it super cool - even cooler than my moms mini. Thanks for the video - brings back nice memories of people No longer with us👍

Front floor plans on early minis renown for rotting. Water ingress from the window and the external body seams. My first car was a 10 year old 1963 850 Austin badged which I toured around Europe. Have owned a number of minis over the years. Great fun car, easy to maintain for a 17 year old. Love the videos.

The engine in the Mini is an Austin A Series. They could be had with up to 1100cc capacity, but this is likely a 900cc. The transmission is in the engine sump and shares the oil with the engine. Great job on both cars. The Isetta has no reverse gear so do not park too close to obsticlese.

Coopers always had twin SU carburettors, so this is not a Cooper, just a plain Austin or Morris Mini. The engine is an Austin sourced A series, which were used in most BMC small cars, such as the Morris Minor, Austin Healey Sprite, Austin A40 and many more.

In the UK we call the BMW ISETTA a bubble car, interesting fact too,people used to get trapped in the isetta cars,if you pull up to a wall,or drive into your garage you’d be trapped in the car because they don’t have reverse gear and you couldn’t open the door to get out 😊

Bmw izetta born out of the suez canal oil crisis. It didn't matter what it looked like or how fast it went(or didn't ) it was all do do with max mpg. Mini born in 1959 as a more practical answer to the "bubble cars" a lot more refined capable of carrying 4 passengers and their luggage . 70 mph and 40+mpg.

The Mini has the best passenger space as it, with its 1100cc engine, was a great British Leyland creation. The BMW Insects with its little air cooled motorcycle engine could transport a couple people to the post WWII industrial complex of West Germany's recovery from the war. I would like the BMW because of its novelty factor. I would like the Mini because it is safer, very nimble, has a heater, and is uncomplicated!

Wow you guys actually did a Mini Cooper my dream car. I am very impressed on how it came out I was a little sad to see that the Mini Cooper has YABBA DABBA DOO ITUS. As for your question on what kind of engine the Mini Cooper has it is a 1275 - cc engine. And according to Google it had a 5 and a 1/2 gallon gas tank. The Mini Cooper has been my dream car for almost 10 years and I still have never gotten one. Hopefully I will get 1 in the future [with my favorite paint color]. As of the BMW it's an interesting looking car but it doesn't pick my interest. Another awesome video guys.

The BMW, if you're familiar with TV shows from the late 1980's and early 1990's, would be considered the Urkel car. Jameel White's character, Steve Urkel from the TV show "Family Matters", had a car exactly like this. Would love to see a follow-up video about someone buying it and restoring it.

Two different champs here: the Mini best emulates the practical car in terms of daily driver potential, can go at least 30-40 mph, can haul some groceries, gets you to work in winter; the BMW best emulates a unique weekend hobby 'car' that could otherwise easily live in garage or storage unit.

Love the great work it's your did on those cars me honestly I love those Oddball cars so it'd be kind of hard for me to decide between the BMW Isetta are the Mini Cooper. But if I had to choose one to buy it would be the Mini Cooper it just seems like it would be more balanced on the road and probably a little bit heavier. But honestly if I want a big lottery I would buy both of them to start my collection with.

These are cool old cars. The isetta has a 2 stroke, 2 or 1 cylinder motorcycle engine. The mini has a 4 stroke 4 banger. The isetta saved bmw because they couldn't sell enough luxury cars to pay the bills. So the isetta was born and the company is still here many years later. The mini is a racing icon as well as a good on gas runabout car and it doesn't need 2 stroke blue oil.
@theythinkitsallrover8106

It's an A-series engine in the mini. Probably an 1098cc or there abouts. The cam sits below the head so no worries on head gasket changes as you don't need to mess about with the timing chain.
