Nice to see a family of cranes in your garden. They are quite shy. The Common crane a.k.a. Eurasian crane (nl: kraanvogel, sv: trana, scientific: Grus grus) is the province animal (sv: landskapsdjur) of Västergötland since 1988. The province animals are an addition to the province flowers that has been around since 1908. The province flower of Västergötland is Common heather (nl: struikhei, sv: ljung, scientific: Calluna vulgaris). The white flower seen during your forest hike is Arctic starflower (nl: zevenster, sv: skogsstjärna, scientific: Lysimachia europaea), and it's the province flower of Värmland, but Skogsstjärnan is also a common Swedish nick name for moonshine (nl: zelfgemaakte sterkedrank, sv: hembränt).

This is my wish list for you: a proper garden shovel with a rounded end, a vacuum, a dozen good paintbrushes, as much paint and stain as you can imagine, and a larger moving dolly. I have to say that I can’t understand why a neighbor wouldn’t offer to take you into town, or pick up a few things for you. I guess things are different in Sweden. I am not judging, my grandparents were born in Sweden and immigrated to Canada in the early 1900’s and they were the most generous and caring people. My grandmother was always helping others, so that is why I find it odd no help is offered.

I don't subscribe to many channels, and I certainly don't click on the notification bell, but am doing both for this channel. When I first started watching, I thought, "Oh here we go - another young woman playing at living alone in the wild" but it's clear you're the real deal and I'm rooting for your success. I love your pragmatism and practical outlook - of course you uneed to earn money to do this and I was relieved that you can work remotely! I wish you all the best and I will continue to watch your videos and see the evolution of your beautiful Swedish home. x

Plus one on getting a shop vac. Also, two things to make your work easier: sand and stain boards higher up so you’re standing up straight. Use the back of the chairs as saw horses. Snd second, when installing your boards to the wall, work from one side to the other (left to right since you’re right-handed). Then address any gap at the corner. Best of luck to you!

Lovely that you take the time for forest bathing. Also lovely to see the cranes. You must be a good designer, victim of obsessive mental working. The tangents however can derail more logical organization. I use lists of projects, and sequences for completion, to keep everything visual and out of mind. This allows for switching projects when contingencies fail. It also helps in being comprehensive and thorough. I love the abundance of light from that window, you obviously have something in mind for it, and it will nice to see what transpires.

Your videos are very inspiring, and I am thinking looking at you that I might actually renovate my kitchen too. I had asked a carpenter to come and look at it because I thought it need to be lifted to be leveled, but as he didnt want to do that, I am now thinking I can, like you, do it myself. I have done the same as you, bought a Swedish cabin, *soldattorp*, in the woods, but probably to the south of you. And being a nurse I have an added advantage because I probably find temp work easier than you (just speculating!). Anyway, I can so relate to everything taking so much longer time than I thought it would. I had a tree falling and destroying a tiny bit of the roof of my old barn, and I planned a day for the repair, and it took me three days.

There is this stuff called levelling cement. Simple and easy to use, you just mix it up and pour it on the floors. It is liquid enough that it will find all the low points, fill them in and once it dries you have perfectly level floors to lay your flooring on.

You said that it cost a lot to heat the cabin. I would have imaged that you add at least some more insulation under the wood panels. Also you can get wire wheels you can put into the electric screwdriver. That is more effective in removing loose paint than the sander. And does not cost much.
