Id be careful dropping your spots man. You'll get fished out of your local before you know it.

hey bro, not tryna hate on ya here but when your releasing trout its important to make sure you handle them properly to ensure the best chance that the fish survives, I use to be like this as well, the bros trout fix nz and trippin on trout have both made videos on it

Thanks mate. Appreciate any advice on safe releasing and proper handling. I have since changed the way I release now. If I'm releasing the fish I try leave it in the water and barely handle it at all now. Will check out the vids though too. Thank bro👍🏼

The last position, where there were a lot of trout, you needed a fly rod to catch them.

Don’t handle fish like this if your releasing them. The fish should swim off almost as soon as you let go. Guarantee this fish died later on. Should be in the water at all times only taken out for a quick photo if you want. Should also wet your hands first to protect the fishes coating on its skin. Nice fish though

wet hands or towel better, but holding the fish till it’ s back to breathing properly is totally good practice. personally i fish only to eat - it’s not a sport to me.

might as well get a feed from it if you're going to kill it

Really bad way to treat a fish if you plan to release it. Keep them in the water… just unhook them and let them go after they recover, preferably in the moving oxygenated water.

Always use blade spinners. I think that day I was using a rainbow coloured veltic spinner.

@sharlenepoa9593 which bridge? Not the one along the main road. It's further upstream. There's a small bridge on Hampson Rd I think.
