I know Dave, she’s a screaming Jimmy, I used to go down to Duncon Engine in Ballard just to listen to them break in a new Jimmy, there’s no sound like it , then run that sucker up so high that you would think it would blow sky-high, hope your having a fantastic day my brother, catch you soon 😀😀

@@DesertRatFabrication I thought it sounded like a Jimmy. Way back in the day I used to work on some GSE eqt that was powered by the old Detroit 671 2 stroke diesels. Dang things would run on diesel, JP4/5 asnd even kerosine, whatever we had access to, LOL...

Hey Shawn when we are finishing hooks we like about 6 hrs, if we are finishing pots we like a 10-12 hr soak, the fish stay much more lively in the pots, if we let the hooks soak to long we start to get fleas, we went to the pots because the whales we’re getting so much of the fish, I will show pot fishing later in the fall when I get done, thanks for coming by my friend, talk to you soon 😀😀

Hey Chuck, when we are finishing hooks we like to get about 6 hr soak, if we are fishing pots we like about 12 hrs, the fish fair way better in pots so the longer soak is nice, let me know if you want to know more, great catching up buddy, talk soon 😀😀

So these days in the fleet, what is the percent of boats that run skates vs tubs vs modern systems?
@DesertRatFabrication
Жыл бұрын
Most boats are running the slinky pots for Black Cod to keep the Whales from getting the fish, we are running hooks today for Halibut as far as tubs go none of the boats I’m familiar with use them, but there are some that do, and auto baiters not that many anymore, they don’t fish as good and you Whales , pots are the most efficient fishing, hope this helped 😀😀
@xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

@@DesertRatFabrication Wait, pots for BC? How does that work is it still on longline?
@DesertRatFabrication
Жыл бұрын
@@xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx yes it is, I retired from fishing 4 yrs ago , that’s when they started fishing pots, so it was pretty awesome to come back for a yr. And be able to fish around Whales and them not take our fish, the states have beckets every 40 fathoms and a pot is snapped in and gos out a shoot that’s next to the regular setting shoot, then they are hauled back and the bridle is grabbed by a picking boom , you just undo the door of the pot and shake out the fish, then you collapse the pot ( that’s why they are called slinky pots) and store until setting, later in the season I will video it, we are currently fishing Halibut with hooks right now, but will go back to pots in about a month and finish up in late September, hope you look for the video, have a great week and thanks for stopping by😀😀
